DeMarcus Cousins is set to become one of the most pursuit free agents we’ve seen in ages, even despite the fact that he suffered a heart-breaking season-ending Achilles injury that will keep him sidelined for months.
Cousins was balling his heart out ever since the start of the season and with him being keen to play for a big market and a contender, the obvious favorites to land him would obviously be the Lakers or Rockets, or even the Pelicans.
Nonetheless, he’s been known for being a bit of a handful, so you never know what to expect from Boogie and his hardnosed temper. Today, we’re going to let you know about the top 4 dark horses to sign him.
4. Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks have been looking for a big man for years now, especially since the DeAndre Jordan fiasco and they have the kind of cap space to make a huge push for him and offer him a max deal.
Dallas is currently entitled of the 5th overall pick of this year’s Draft while also having standout prospect Dennis Smith Jr, so the future seems quite bright for Mark Cuban’s team should Cousins sign there.
3. Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics don’t have the kind of cap space to sign him as their money is extremely tight, but they could do a sign and trade that would send Marcus Smart, Marcus Morris, Jaylen Brown and a future pick to the Pelicans to get him.
Boogie would have the possibility of playing in one of the world’s biggest markets, not to mention the fact that Stevens has become a yearly COY candidate, and a lineup of Kyrie, Hayward, Tatum, Horford and Cousins would completely dominate the East for sure.

2. Cleveland Cavaliers
If LeBron James decides to stay put at the Land beyond this season, trading away Tristan Thompson, JR Smith, Jordan Clarkson and George Hill would be one of the team’s top priorities for the summer.
So, signing Cousins, who’s always had high praise for the King and vice versa, would be the best way to keep James happy and most likely make yet another trip to at least the Eastern Conference Finals.
1. Chicago Bulls
If the Chicago Bulls trade away Felicio, Asik and Lopez, they could offer Cousins the max contract he’s expecting, and this team’s young core was one of the most impressive in the leagues when they were actually healthy.
The Bulls are entitled of the 8th overall pick of this years’ draft, while Markkanen, LaVine and Dunn have been quite impressive as well. Cousins would have an easy path to the playoffs, a lot of money, young and talented teammates and would play for one of the biggest markets in the world.
