5 NBA Trades That Fans Would Love To See

5 NBA Trades That Fans Would Love To See

The trade chatter is starting to heat up as the months get colder. The trade deadline is inching to one month away and teams are beginning to pile up plans to trade their stars for an investment that will help their team for the future years. It’s not just the teams that are paying attention to the standings though. The fans would love to see some trades go in the way of their favor.

Fans have a personal connection to their team. Some players have a special meaning as well. From championship contention to homecoming bliss, these five trades are what fans would want to see the most.

Jerami Grant To The Boston Celtics

Jerami Grant To The Boston Celtics

Celtics Receive: Jerami Grant

Pistons Receive: Marcus Smart, Aaron Nesmith, Romeo Langford

Grant is expected to be out for another month, but the Celtics could roll the dice and make a move for the power forward. With Grant at the power forward position, it would allow Jaylen Brown to move to shooting guard and Jayson Tatum move back to small forward. Assuming that Dennis Schroder comes back healthy, this would be a solid starting lineup with Robert Williams in the middle.

Getting rid of Smart would hurt for defensive purposes, but the Celtics might have run their course with Smart on the team. Al Horford would remain on the team and he is one of the better lockerroom voices anyways. Dealing Smart, who is under contract for three more years, could be valuable to the Pistons, who are looking to groom their younger players over that time.

John Wall To The Los Angeles Clippers

John Wall To The Los Angeles Clippers

Clippers Receive: John Wall

Rockets Receive: Eric Bledsoe, Serge Ibaka, Luke Kennard

Wall has yet to play this season, but you would have to think that he can still play at a high level. The Clippers are hungry for offense right now. With Kawhi Leonard still recovering and Paul George out for three weeks, the next best offensive player on the team is Eric Bledsoe. Instead, the team should look to move Bledsoe and other pieces to create room for Wall.

Wall averaged 20.6 points for a bad Rockets team last year. Wall may not be able to lead this team to wins each night, but he could hold the fort down until George gets back. With Wall and George in the same backcourt, that could work until Leonard gets back to form a big three for at least this season.

Derrick Rose To The Chicago Bulls

Derrick Rose To The Chicago Bulls

Bulls Receive: Derrick Rose

Knicks Receive: Coby White, Derrick Jones Jr., 2022 second-round pick

The Bulls could have the best bench backcourt in the league if they made this move. Coby White may not have a future with this team if they are looking to win a title right now. The Bulls also likely don’t want to get rid of Ayo Dosunmu after his recent stellar play. If the Bulls could move White, and the one-year deal that Jones has, to the Knicks, they could have a grand homecoming with Rose.

Rose is one of the best bench players in the league. Having Rose and Alex Caruso could be a deadly combo. The Bulls could play small with Dosunmu moving to small forward and the team could keep Nikola Vucevic on the floor as their center if Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan needed a break. Imagine if Rose came back and won a title in Chicago. It would be a true Cinderella story.

Ben Simmons To The Cleveland Cavaliers

Ben Simmons To The Cleveland Cavaliers

Cavaliers Receive: Ben Simmons

76ers Receive: Collin Sexton, Kevin Love, Cedi Osman, 2022 First-Round Pick

The Cavaliers are a top-5 team in the Eastern Conference, which might have sounded crazy before the year started but it’s a reality. The team is also doing this without star shooting guard Collin Sexton, who is out for the year with an injury. Sexton is set to be a free agent after this year, while the 76ers are paying Ben Simmons for nothing. There is a way that both teams could work something out here.

The 76ers could move Simmons to get an immediate contributor in Kevin Love right now. Love has reinvented his game and has defined himself as one of the better second unit power forwards in the league. Love and Andre Drummond on the floor could work together, which would move Tobias Harris to the small forward position. As for Cleveland, the team is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. Adding a Defensive Player of the Year candidate only makes them better.

Russell Westbrook To The Sacramento Kings

Russell Westbrook To The Sacramento Kings

Kings Receive: Russell Westbrook, Talen Horton-Tucker

Lakers Receive: Buddy Hield, Mavin Bagley III, Tristan Thompson

Oscar Robertson was a member of the Kings franchise technically when he averaged his triple-double. It would be fitting to see Russell Westbrook be a part of Sacramento's history. In the current era, the experiment with Westbrook in Los Angeles isn’t working. The Lakers need better pieces around LeBron James and Anthony Davis if they want to win a title this year. The team is hurting on three-point shooting and Buddy Hield could solve that problem immediately. Tristan Thompson is a more athletic center than Dwight Howard right now, while anything from Marvin Bagley would be a positive.

As for the Kings, their experiment with Hield, De’Aaron Fox, Bagley, and Harrison Barnes failed. Now, the team needs to tear it all down. Talen Horton-Tucker could be a piece with Fox and Tyrese Haliburton moving forward. The Kings would be pretty bad, but Westbrook would have free range to stat stuff and sell tickets as the franchise picks up the pieces and looks to a brighter future when Westbrook’s contract runs out in 2023.
