It’s been reported that the Golden State Warriors are planning to keep Andrew Wiggins for the entire upcoming season, but we all know things can change if the Warriors get the number one overall pick in this year's upcoming draft.

The Warriors are looking to show the world that their reign in the NBA isn’t over, so if they have a chance to get a superstar player don’t be surprised if the Warriors make a big offseason move. Here are five players the Warriors can trade for if they get the number one pick.

5. Rudy Gobert

Rudy Gobert

It’s been a lot of tension between the Utah Jazz's best players, Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell due to Rudy Gobert's careless behavior regarding the coronavirus pandemic, which allegedly led to both Rudy and Donovan contracting the virus.

If the Warriors land the number one pick, they can use that pick to trade for Rudy Gobert. With Mitchell being the more promising player, the Utah Jazz would look to keep Donovan and possibly draft Rudy Gobert's replacement with James Wiseman. The Warriors would get the rim protector they never had to pair with Draymond, Klay, and Steph.

4. Nikola Jokic

I know what you're thinking, 'why would the Denver Nuggets give up their best player?' because, in the new NBA, it's extremely difficult to win a championship with your team's best player being a center. Jokic, as talented as he is, his motor, weight and his lack of overall aggressiveness at times are concerning for the Denver Nuggets.

Sometimes Jokic looks like a top 10 player in the NBA, other times he doesn’t look like he is interested in playing basketball. Not every star player is meant to be an alpha dog. Jokic would benefit from playing with the Warriors and not having to have so much responsibility on his hands. Jokic would be better in a 2nd and 3rd option type of role.

The Nuggets could use the number one pick to get the best prospect in the draft, in Anothney Edwards and pair him to form a lethal backcourt with Jamal Murray.

3. Ben Simmons

It seems like the talented 76ers duo could be headed towards a breakup. The Warriors would be a perfect landing spot for Ben Simmons because of his strengths.

Simmons wouldn’t have to worry about the paint being clogged up, like in Philadelphia, and could constantly attack the rim and kick the ball out to shooters. Those shooters, of course, being the greatest shooting backcourt of all-time, in Steph & Klay.

The 76ers would get the number one pick and draft Simmons replacement with LaMelo Ball. The 6’8 PG who could pass the ball just as well as Ben Simmons and would be a much better shooter than Simmons as well.

2. Joel Embiid

Let's say that 76ers want to keep Simmons because he’s the more durable player and has more potential and upside than Joel Embiid. The Warriors would be wise to try to acquire Embiid who would give them an unstoppable force in the paint.

The pairing of Joel Embiid with the Warriors would be a nightmare matchup for teams, and would instantly put the Warriors back as title favorites. Imagine defenders trying to double Joel in the paint and him kicking the ball out to open shooters in Steph and Klay.

The pairing of Joel with the Splash Brothers would give the Warriors the most lethal inside-outside combination the league has ever seen.

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Assuming the Warriors get the first pick in this year's draft, they will be wanting to package the pick for a superstar player. No one screams superstar more than Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Bucks had one of the best teams in the NBA this season. They built their team around Giannis' strengths and are seen as real title contenders.

The only problem is, what happens if the Bucks make it to the finals and lose, or don’t reach the finals at all. Giannis may decide that his future may be better off playing in a different jersey and that's where the Golden State Warriors come into play.

With the No.1 pick, a promising rookie, and two solid NBA starters the Golden State Warriors could offer the trade package to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis.
