5 Teams That Should Risk It And Get Jimmy Butler In A Last-Minute Deal

Fadeaway World

Fadeaway World

Jimmy Butler will very likely be traded within the next few days. It’s no longer a matter of if, it’s a matter of when and to where. He isn’t happy with the Timberwolves and wants to play elsewhere.

As the inevitable trade draws ever closer speculation to where he will go is at an all-time high. There are a number of different teams he could go to and Butler would definitely improve each one of them.

Butler would only have 1 more year on his current deal so any team that wants him needs to be sure that he will commit long-term lest they only get him for a year before leaving for nothing. With all this in mind here are our top 5 trade packages that we could see shortly for Jimmy Butler.

5. Miami Heat

South Beach has amazing weather, a good history of being successful and is known as an organization that is superbly run from the top to the bottom. With Wade having his farewell season Butler would instantly become the franchise player.

A simple swap of Butler for Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo gives the Heat the franchise player they need to move forward and gives Minnesota a quality young big man with a lot of potentials and another great point guard to add to their lineup.

4. Houston Rockets

If Houston really want to push the boat out and compete with the Golden-State Warriors then acquiring Jimmy Butler would be perfect for them. The Rockets need some defense and the Timberwolves need more outside scoring.

Trading Butler to the Rockets for Eric Gordon and PJ Tucker gives the wolves a pair of great outside shooters that can space the floor for Karl-Anthony Towns to go to work down low and give Andrew Wiggins more room to operate.

3. LA Clippers

Since Butler doesn’t want to be 2nd fiddle behind LeBron James playing for the other team in LA would definitely suit him. The Clippers need to move on from ‘Lob City’ and start forging a new identity for themselves.

A trade of Butler for Tobias Harris and Teodosic gives the Timberwolves a great shooting combo-forward in Harris and a creative point guard in Teodosic. This also allows the Clippers to make a significant move to signal that they will not just fall in line behind the Lakers once again.

2. Toronto Raptors

Another team which would do well adding more star power is Toronto. They have a top 5 player in Leonard, but adding Butler would make them so dangerous defensively. Can you imagine Kawhi and Butler locking up the perimeter every night? It would be devastating for the opposition.

Trading Butler in exchange for Norman Powell, OG Anunoby, Fred VanVleet and a future 2 round pick gives Toronto another amazing defensive stopper and gives the Wolves some quality pieces to fit around KAT and Wiggins.

1. Milwaukee Bucks

Speaking of devastating defensive duos... Butler and the Greek Freak. Say it with me again, Butler and the Greek Freak. Milwaukee is looking to make the top 4 in the East in what is a very important season for them. They have the Human Alphabet in Antetokounmpo and some other good pieces like Khris Middleton, but in order to win in today’s NBA, you need firepower.

Trading Eric Bledsoe, Thon Maker and a 1st round pick gives the Wolves another good guard alongside Jeff Teague as well as a quality young big and also gives the Bucks that additional star power that is so vital to compete at the top of the NBA.
