Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum have done their best to maintain a foothold in the Western Conference. Last season, their efforts were rewarded with a trip to the Conference Finals, only to get swept by the Warriors.

This summer, aside from adding Hassan Whiteside, the team has done very little to improve the roster. That could change before the start of the season.

In a report by Bleacher Report's Preston Ellis, Portland may consider trading for Kevin Love to improve their standing this year.

“From Portland’s perspective, Love is still useful. In 2018-19, he played only 22 games but finished with 22.5 points, 14.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per 36 minutes. He did shoot just 36.1 percent from three-point range, his least effective rate in three years, but his would-be predecessor in Portland, Al-Farouq Aminu, only met or exceeded that number twice in his four years with the team. Love would be an immediate upgrade in the Trail Blazers’ system and wouldn’t have to carry the offensive load thanks to Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.”

With Lillard, CJ, and Love, the Blazers would have a formidable star trio of shooters and floor spacers.

For the Cavs, the value in this deal would come in clearing the books. K-Love is due to make $118M over the next four years. His contract will expire at 34-years-old.

Despite nearing the end of his prime, and injury concerns in the past, Love could be the guy to put the Trail Blazers of the edge. if they want to find out, however, they will have to take the risk.
