The Warriors are on another tier right now, that much isn't exactly a secret anymore. With literally 5x All-Stars on the roster, it's going to be hard for any team to keep up with them.
We've seen teams try in the past. The Cavs did it when they formulated their "Big 3," the Rockets did it when they assembled a roster full of shooters ready to chuck shots, and the Celtics are doing it with their stacked roster both in the starting lineup and on the bench.
The 76ers are a good team but are just not good enough to de-throne these Warriors. That doesn't mean the potential isn't there, though. With one or two moves, they could become the latest franchise to get geared up for Golden State. According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Bradley Beal could be that guy to get them there.
“First, let’s dream about the havoc a Beal-Butler-Ben Simmons-Joel Embiid-JJ Redick quintet could wreak on the East. That might be the closest anyone gets to the Golden State Warriors in terms of the volume and quantity of offensive triggers together. Given Philly’s needs for outside shooting and supplemental playmaking, Beal seems to be the ideal acquisition.”
Ideally, the package to get Bradley Beal would center around Markelle Fultz. Specifically, Buckley suggested that the 76ers could include Wilson Chandler, Furkan Korkmaz, and some picks to go along with Fultz. That offer would be enough for the Wizards to start over in a way, with the chance to develop Markelle into a star. The John Wall factor does make things complicated, but the Wizards can't get much worse now anyway.
After acquiring Jimmy Butler, the Sixers took another step up the contention latter. Beal would put them right near the top. In theory, they'd be getting another knockdown shooter (which would plug one of their biggest weaknesses) for a guy in Fultz who has no place with the team anyway.
If I'm the Sixers, this isn't something I'd give a whole lot of thought about.
