NBA Rumors: Andre Drummond “Highly Unlikely” To Stay With Cavs Past The Trade Deadline

2 Min Read

Word on the street is, Andre Drummond may be seeing his last days as a Cleveland Cavalier.

The 2x All-Star, who has played less than 30 games for the Cavs, is apparently being put on the block in the aftermath of the trade that brought them Jarrett Allen.

According to one source, he’ll likely be wearing a different jersey before the NBA trade deadline.

Allen, 22, is at an age that fits much better with the Cavs roster than Drummond, who turned 27 in August. For a team focused on building for the future, he just seems like a much better alternative.

As for where we should expect Dre to land, that much is still uncertain. He still brings a lot of value as a rebounder, shot blocker, and inside scorer. This season, he’s averaging 18.1 points, 15.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game on 47% shooting.

Unfortunately, he’s also a traditional-style big man in a league that has gravitated towards outside shooting.

And with a contract that expires at the end of this season, any team that trades for Drummond will be denied the security of knowing they’ll have him locked up for at least a few more years.

Considering all the factors at play, it will be interesting to see how the situation plays out…
