NBA Rumors: Clippers Could Trade For Rudy Gobert

The Los Angeles Clippers basically have it all: two superstars to lead, guards who specialize on offense and defense, a brilliant-minded head coach, and an enthusiastic owner ready to give the team whatever they need.

But even the Clips have a kink in their armor and it's located in the frontcourt. Without a true, reliable center to guard the middle, grab rebounds, and play defense, the Clippers have a pretty big flaw -- especially against other teams in the West.

When worse comes to worst, who's going to face off against guys like Anthony Davis and Nikola Jokic?

This dilemma is the heart behind a potential deal recently proposed by Justin Alvarado of Clutch Points:

“One of the biggest criticisms of the Clippers is that they don’t possess a strong interior presence. While they have done well so far, it might hurt them later on when they face off against teams that are loaded with bigs such as the Lakers, 76ers, etc. It also doesn’t help that Montrezl Harrell is approaching free agency which makes that center spot even weaker. Gobert to the Clippers would solve all their problems and fortify an already elite defense.”

Unfortunately for L.A., trading for Gobert won't be an easy feat. The Jazz are contenders in the West and Gobert's presence in the middle is a major part of the reason why. A scenario in which the Jazz trade him (especially this summer) doesn't seem likely unless something goes horribly wrong.

But, in the case Gobert suddenly does become available, ClutchPoints suggested an offer that includes Patrick Beverley, Ivica Zubac, Rodney McGruder, and a 2020 second-round pick.

That might just be enough to get a deal done -- but we'll have to see how these next few months play out before we make any conclusions.
