Knicks Refused To Trade Mitchell Robinson In Trade For Anthony Davis

The summer of stars has come and gone with the Knicks (somehow) failing to land a single one. The optimism they had for landing Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, or even Kawhi Leonard all disappeared in the first few days of free agency when it became evident they would strike out on all of them.

Now, they will focus on the longer route -- rebuilding through young talent and developing their players. With RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Kevin Knox, they certainly have a good place to start in that regard.

But had they been willing to depart with 21-year-old Mitchell Robinson, things could have turned out very differently for them.

According to Ian Begley, Robinson was "off limits" during trade negotiations between the Knicks and Pelicans for Anthony Davis.

Davis ended up heading to L.A. in a package that featured an unprecedented haul of picks and young players. Had the Knicks decided to include Robinson, they would have stood a much better chance at landing the 6x All-Star.

Only time will if that decision was the right decision, but only the Knicks are going to suffer the consequences if it's wrong.

Davis will be playing with LeBron James this season, as he hopes to bring the Lakers their first NBA Championship since 2010.
