NBA Rumors: 4 Best Trade Packages For Jimmy Butler

NBA Trade Rumors Jimmy Butler

Despite having 2 All-Star caliber players alongside him Jimmy Butler seems like he’s very discontent with life in Minnesota. There are multiple reports that he is unhappy with the current situation and with only 1 year left on his contract it looks like his stay with the Wolves will be short but not sweet.

The Wolves know this and so will want to get something in return for Butler even if it means taking a loss when they traded for him last year. Something is better than nothing and the Wolves still have Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins in their core.

Butler is a perennial All-Star and one of the best two-way players in the NBA. He can carry a team on offense and defense and is an extremely valuable asset for any team if they can get him to sign a long-term deal.

Here are our best trade packages the Wolves could do to get the most out of a bad situation.

4. Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers right now have a bit of an issue when it comes to their point guards. At the moment they have Ben Simmons who looks like he will be an All-Star this season and they also have Markelle Fultz.

Fultz has a lot of potentials but won’t get any significant minutes playing behind the superior Ben Simmons. Trading Fultz and Covington to the Wolves for Butler and a 2nd round pick would give both teams what they want. Butler would be playing for a contender and would immediately make the East more interesting and the Wolves get a talented young point guard to feed the ball to Towns and Wiggins.

3. Boston Celtics

Let’s face it, even though the Celtics are the favorites to get the Finals from the East they still can’t match up with the Warriors who have added DeMarcus Cousins. Even the combination of Irving, Hayward, Tatum and Horford along with Rozier and Brown isn’t good enough to get the job done.

The Celtics need another superstar that goes along with their supreme defensive identity. Jimmy Butler is the perfect fit. A trade for Butler involving Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart would the Wolves a very talented SG and a defensive stopper in Smart.

2. Toronto Raptors

Now that Toronto has opted to risk progression in acquiring Kawhi Leonard in exchange for DeMar DeRozan they need to give The Klaw a reason to stay in the great white North. Kawhi and Kyle Lowry will work well but in order to challenge the 76ers and Boston, they will need some more firepower.

Trading Serge Ibaka for Butler gives Minnesota a good defensive stretch 4 and gives Toronto another defensive stopper alongside Leonard. Kawhi is long enough to play PF and Butler would play the SF.

Toronto would become a very good defensive team as well as devastating on the fast break.

1. LA Lakers

The Lakers may have LeBron James but other than that they don’t have any other stars and to win in the NBA today you need multiple stars to even get to the Finals. The Lakers have a lot of young talent but they need to win now with LeBron approaching 34.

Trading Kyle Kuzma for Butler gives the Lakers that 2nd star they crave, one that can carry the defense whilst LeBron carries the offense. For the Wolves, they get another talented young wing player to run the floor with Wiggins and Teague.
