NBA Rumors: 5 Best Trade Packages For Andre Drummond

Fadeaway World

Fadeaway World

Sitting at the 11th seed in the East, the Pistons should look to enter a rebuild. Their team is mediocre and with the amount of money they have tied up in players, trades must happen to shed cap and acquire young talent.

Their franchise player, Andre Drummond, is set to become a free agent this offseason, assuming he declines his player option, and the Pistons should look to move on from him. Drummond is a hot commodity and teams would look to acquire his services. With that being said, here are 5 teams that could trade for Andre Drummond.

Sacramento Kings

The Kings have had an interesting season so far. After a horrendous start to the season, many expected the Kings to bottom out. After injuries to De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley, many Kings fans had lost hope but, this team stayed competitive and are just 1.5 games out of the 8th seed. Trading for Andre Drummond could be the aggressive move that puts the Kings into the playoffs for the first time since 2006. A potential trade would be Andre Drummond in exchange for Trevor Ariza, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Harry Giles, and a future 2nd round pick.

Andre Drummond could be the player that puts the Kings into playoff contention. A frontcourt of Bagley and Drummond would be amazing at post scoring and rebounding. The pick-and-roll between Drummond and Fox would be amazing now and in the future.

On the Pistons, Bogdan could finally showcase his worth and improve his play. The Pistons are in a tough position as they aren’t a contending team and are paying a lot of players an obscene amount of money. Bogdan could become the number one option of the future for this team and be a great teammate alongside Luke Kennard. Harry Giles has dealt with a lot of injuries during his young career and a change of scenery could be the one thing that turns his career around.

Boston Celtics

Trading for Drummond could be the move that turns the Celtics into title contenders. The Boston Celtics have been great so far and are currently the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference. Despite this, many people are writing them off as teams like the Bucks, 76ers, and Heat are all expected to go farther in the playoffs. To improve their chances of making the finals, they should look into acquiring Drummond.

A potential trade would be Andre Drummond in exchange for Gordon Hayward, Daniel Theis, and a future 1st. The Pistons would be getting a great player in Hayward that could alleviate the offensive pressure from Luke Kennard. Daniel Theis could be a great back-up center and the future first-round pick could get you an impactful player.

The Celtics would be getting a player in Drummond who would solidify the center position. The biggest concern with the Celtics has been the center position and whether or not they can stop players like Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the paint. Drummond could put away any doubts as he is another big body down low. Also, he would improve the rebounding on this team and should see his play improve as he will be surrounded by shooters and team players.

Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets were a team that many expected to bottom out. With the emergence of Devonte’ Graham and great play from Terry Rozier, the Hornets are currently 1.5 games out of the 8th seed. If the Hornets want to make the playoffs, they should look to acquire an all-star player and Drummond is their guy. A potential trade would be Andre Drummond in exchange for Malik Monk, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bismack Biyombo, and a future 2nd round pick.

Both Malik Monk and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist have been disappointing and could flourish with new roles and a change of scenery. Drummond would become a 1st/2nd option on the Hornets and alleviate the offensive pressure from Graham and Rozier. His inside presence could intimidate opposing big men and would add depth at the position. Looking at this trade, Monk and MKG are both expendable and this trade could be a low-risk, medium-reward type of trade for the Hornets.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers were a team that many people expected to be a contender this season but, that has not been the case. The Blazers are currently the 8th seed in the West which is good considering their rough start to the season. Their biggest problem has been consistency and injuries that they have dealt with. With that being said, Drummond could be the player that can save their season.

A potential trade would be Andre Drummond in exchange for Anfernee Simons, Hassan Whiteside, and a heavily protected first-round pick. Drummond could see his game improve playing alongside a great guard tandem of Lillard and McCollum. This trade would add another All-Star to the roster and allow Nurkic to take his time in recovering from his injury rather than rushing him back.

The Pistons could get their point guard of the future in this trade with Simons. Simons has shown many flashes and would get a lot more playing time on the Pistons. Whiteside’s contract is up at the end of this season so you would be shedding cap and the first-round pick could get you an impactful player.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks have shocked the world this year as they are sitting at a 19-10 record behind the amazing play of Luka Doncic. They had a pretty conservative offseason and opted to re-sign players instead of going for the top guys. This move is questionable because they have the luxury of having Luka play at this high level on a rookie deal so, they should look to capitalize on this opportunity. Trading for Drummond would be tough because of their lack of assets but, it should be a move that they look to pursue.

A potential trade would be Andre Drummond in exchange for Courtney Lee, Jalen Brunson, Justin Jackson, and a 2nd round pick.

Drummond should alleviate offensive pressure from Luka and Kristaps Porzingis. This alleviated pressure should improve the play of Kristaps as he has been disappointing to start the season. This trade also adds another source of offense to the Mavs and makes them even better. The Pistons would be gaining a promising point in Brunson and an off the bench shooter in Jackson. At the very worst, these players could be used to acquire more youth and at the very best, they could become cornerstone pieces for you.
