NBA Rumors: 5 Best Trade Packages For Steven Adams

Fadeaway World

Fadeaway World

Steven Adams has become a very solid starter in the NBA. He is a big man who can be dominant at times, thanks to his brute physicality and intangibles.

Adams has a very soft touch around the rim and is a master at the pick and roll. He is very difficult to stop when he attacks the basket, and when he is underneath it looking for contact. Not to mention, he is one of the best defensive big men in the league.

With the Oklahoma City Thunder looking to offload their star players for younger players and draft picks, it might be worth the leap for some of these teams to go out and grab Adams while he is yet to enter his prime.

Here are the teams that should trade for Steven Adams.

Phoenix Suns

Trade Package: Tyler Johnson, Mikal Bridges, Dario Saric, future first and second-round picks

Why this works for Oklahoma City: The Thunder need young players with excellent potential, along with some more draft picks to stockpile into their vault. They have already acquired a multitude of picks from the Clippers and Rockets for the trade of Westbrook and George and will be hungry for more.

Bridges is a young player with tons of potential, while Johnson is on an expiring contract which relieves cap space. The first and second-round picks certainly sweeten the deal.

Why this works for Phoenix: Phoenix fans are tired of losing, and adding Steven Adams would make them a legitimate threat to make the playoffs for the first time in years.

Rubio, Booker, Ayton, and Adams are very solid players who can contribute in many ways. Not to mention, Adams can help Ayton become a better defender and also allow him to focus more offensively.

Sacramento Kings

Trade Package: Trevor Ariza, Nemanja Bjelica, Harry Giles, Caleb Swanigan, future first-round and second-round picks

Why this works for Oklahoma City: The Thunder will receive the picks they need from a team that won't be that great, and they will also acquire Harry Giles who seems to be on his way to a potential starting big man in this league.

Swanigan also has potential, while Ariza and Bjelica are guys who provide experience and will help the young guys on both ends of the floor.

Why this works for the Kings: Sacramento are still looking for their big man after DeMarcus Cousins was traded, and eventually suffered unfortunate injuries. Grabbing Adams and starting him next to Marvin Bagley III will provide an exciting frontcourt that will challenge the best teams on both ends of the floor.

Bagley and Adams are proficient on offense and can be dominant defensively. They also for well with sharpshooter Buddy Hield for a team desperate for wins.

Charlotte Hornets

Trade Package: Bismack Biyombo, Malik Monk, Dwayne Bacon, Marvin Williams, two second-round picks for Steven Adams and Andre Roberson

Why this works for Oklahoma City: The Thunder firstly acquire an expiring contract in Biyombo, while Malik Monk is the perfect type of player for the Thunder's rebuild. He has star potential, thanks to his shooting and ability to score at a decent level at his very young age.

Monk and Gilgeous-Alexander will be very exciting for the future, and the Thunder should consider this move. The first and second-round picks only further make this deal great for them.

Why this works for Charlotte: The Hornets will not be a good team with their current roster in place, and adding Adams would at least keep them more competitive when teams come to Charlotte.

Rozier and Adams are both tough players who want to win and will set the proper culture under Michael Jordan. Biyombo has not lived up to his potential, and Michael Jordan might not be sold on Malik Monk yet. Moving him could be the best way to start fresh in Charlotte.

Los Angeles Clippers

Trade Package: Mo Harkless, Jerome Robinson, Ivica Zubac, a first-round pick for Steven Adams

Why this works for Oklahoma City: The Thunder firstly acquire an expiring contract in Harkless while also acquiring two very valuable young players in Robinson and Zubac. When talking about a potential two-way starting forward in the league, Robinson looks to be on his way there. He can defend well and score at a decent clip, despite not even being close to his prime.

Zubac looks to be a dominant big man in the making thanks to his post-game and ability on the boards. The Thunder might have two gems if they decide to move Adams.

Why this works for Los Angeles: The Clippers are clearly in win-now mode, and adding Adams would put them over the top in the West and almost guarantee an NBA Finals berth. Adams would give another defensive expert to start alongside Leonard and George, and form a formidable pairing with Montrezl Harrel.

The Clippers have gone all in this season by acquiring George and Leonard, and Steven Adams can be the icing on the cake.

Boston Celtics

Trade Package: Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, future first and second-round picks

Why this Works for Oklahoma City: OKC are in rebuilding mode, and Jaylen Brown is the perfect player to build around by giving him opportunities to play big minutes. While he may never be as great as Durant or Westbrook was, he is a key piece that may be an All-Star someday.

The first and second-round picks will also add to the collection of picks acquired this past Offseason, while Marcus Smart provides toughness and defense to a team that will need that and more.

Why this Works for Boston: Boston must compete for the top seed in the East, and adding a player with star quality would significantly help their chances. A twin-towers duo of Kanter and Adams would be difficult to handle, thanks to Adams's brute physicality and Kanter's effectiveness on offense. Both players complement each other's weaknesses, and also gives Boston more toughness inside.

Right now, Boston is looking second-fiddle to both Milwaukee and Philadelphia and they will look to close the gap by making a potential trade.
