The trade deadline is right upon us, and several players have already stated that they want no part of their team’s futures and would like to be dealt while they still can, with stars like Blake Griffin and Anthony Davis at the top of such list.
Naturally, that has put some teams on crossroads as they know their studs are losing their value by the minute, so they need to find a way to fix that situation as soon as possible or face the risk of settling for subpar offers for them.
But, who are those players that may be on the move? Which teams could actually make a move for them? Let’s take a look at the 5 blockbuster trades that could happen before the trade deadline.
5. Mike Conley
Moving Mike Conley is not going to be an easy task because of his age and his contract, but considering how short the point guard market is, the Grizzlies could actually find a new home for their standout playmaker.
With Conley being an Indianapolis native and them already losing Victor Oladipo, they could trade for him by sending away Darren Collison, Corey Joseph, Tyreke Evans, and a couple picks. The Suns, Magic, and Pistons may also be interested in him.
4. Kevin Love
Kevin Love may not be able to play before the deadline at all, but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to draw a lot of interest from contending teams. With Anthony Davis off the table, I’d look for the Boston Celtics to make a move for the All-Star.
Love is still nursing an injury but could come right in time for the playoffs and we all know what he can bring as a shooter and rebounder. Danny Ainge could get him in return for Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier, Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, and a future 1st round pick.
3. Andrew Wiggins
The Minnesota Timberwolves look ready to move on from Andrew Wiggins, who’s yet to prove he was worthy of being a 1st overall pick but has shown enough glimpses of greatness to fool a desperate team.
The Toronto Raptors are great right now but with Kawhi Leonard buying a 13.3 million dollars mansion in San Diego, they need to prepare for whatever he decides to do this summer. That being said, they could rebuild around the Canadian by sending away Fred VanVleet, Serge Ibaka and a future 1st round pick.
2. Blake Griffin
Last night, we published that Blake Griffin wants to be traded from the Pistons and maybe that will happen very soon.
Griffin has been playing the best ball of his career and he’s finally at full strength. The Mavericks are one of his preferred destinations, and they could get him in return for Harrison Barnes, Dennis Smith Jr, and Dwight Powell, while they could have enough money to resign DeAndre Jordan next summer as well.
1. Anthony Davis
It has finally happened: Davis has demanded a trade. The Celtics can’t trade for him right away as Kyrie Irving’s contract and the Derrick Rose rule prevent them from doing so, so that leaves the door wide open for the Los Angeles Lakers to make a move.
LeBron James and Davis have the same agent and the King has already stated that he’d love to join forces with the Brow, and they could get him in return for Lonzo Ball, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brandon Ingram (or Kyle Kuzma) and a future 1st round pick.
