Carmelo Anthony should be playing in the NBA right now. There's just no way that he's not a top-100 basketball player right now, and wouldn't be able to make a roster.
We've seen him on tape, we've seen him throughout his career, we've seen him over and over. Yes, he's not a plus-defender and brings little to the table other than his offense, but we're talking about one of the best scorers ever.
With 10 All-Stars, 1 Scoring Title, and 6 All-NBA teams under his belt, Carmelo Anthony should be given the last chance to play and leave the league on his own terms, and today, we'll show you the 5 teams that should consider signing him.
5. Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards don't have anything to lose this season. They've given rookie Rui Hachimura a long leash and he's played well so far, but they need another true scorer if they want to make the playoffs.
Bradley Beal has emerged as one of the league's best players this season and Isaiah Thomas can torch defenses coming off the bench, so why not give Carmelo a chance? their defense isn't very good, and they could only get better in the offensive end.
4. Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons must make the playoffs this season or they'll have to break up their Andre Drummond-Blake Griffin frontcourt. They've already trusted Derrick Rose and it has paid off, so why not give Melo a chance as well?
The Pistons lack depth at the small forward spot and they brought Joe Johnson in to see what he had left in the tank. No disrespect to Iso-Joe, but he's no Carmelo Anthony. He could do wonders off the bench next to Derrick Rose.
3. Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers haven't been the same high-octane scoring team this year they were last season, and it's clear they're lacking another scoring option next to CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard.
The Blazers have started Mario Hezonja, Rodney Hood, Anthony Tolliver, and Kent Bazemore this season, and you can't convince me any of those players bring more to the table than Carmelo Anthony. Lillard wants him there, and even though he's rejected them in the past, he'd love to have the last shot to be in the league.
2. Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors are a bit of a mess right now and signing Carmelo Anthony won't do much to fix their defensive woes, but he'd be a legit scoring threat to take some pressure off of D'Angelo Russell's shoulders.
Steve Kerr's team have been at their best when going small, and Melo could play the four with Draymond Green at the five on their death lineups. They don't have many options either, and he'd definitely be an upgrade over their current roster.
1. New York Knicks
And finally, the New York Knicks. They mistreated Carmelo Anthony, used him as a scapegoat, and traded him away even though he wasn't the real - or biggest - issue with a franchise that has struggled for decades.
Carmelo loves New York City and New York City loves him back. He poured his heart and soul in the Madison Square Garden, and even if they spend another season near the bottom of the standings, he deserves to have a last standing ovation from his home crowd before calling it quits.
