The Portland Trail Blazers will have to overcome overwhelming odds to achieve their ultimate goal this season. Injuries, an offseason of roster moves, and a strengthened Western Conference will make it tough for the Blazers to keep their status as Championship contenders.
A trade for a guy like Danilo Gallinari could help ease the load.
In his recent article, Paolo Uggetti of The Ringer mentioned several potential trade targets for the Trail Blazers, including OKC sharpshooter Gallinari.
“Danilo Gallinari is another trade candidate who could fit in well with this team. He would be the perfect stretch 4 to play with Portland’s deadly backcourt. And while it’s unclear what Oklahoma City’s ultimate goals are for this season, Gallinari and his expiring contract could be a tasty asset for Sam Presti to try to swap for another first-round pick.”
For a future first-round pick, acquiring Galo would be a huge acquisition for Portland.
It would fill their gaping hole at the four position with a guy who has some size and offensive fire-power as a shot creator and known-down shooter. This season in OKC, the 31-year-old is averaging 18 points and 5 rebounds on 43% shooting.
His presence would be a welcome sight for the struggling Trail Blazers.
