NBA Rumors: Celtics Could Offer Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart And Draft Picks For Bradley Beal

Bradley Beal

After a season full of drama and more downs than ups, the Boston Celtics are set to change their image ahead of next season, and more now seeing that Kyrie Irving’s departure is imminent. The Celtics will try to make some noise during the offseason trying to put together a group of players who can compete at the highest level again.

They recently saw how their hopes to acquire Anthony Davis vanished when the Lakers pulled off a blockbuster trade that set the big man to Los Angeles and now they will focus on someone else, trying not to lose the chance to assemble a talented team. In fact, the C’s don’t seem to have any intention of undergoing another rebuild.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics are getting ready in case they lose both Kyrie Irving and Al Horford in the 2019 NBA free agency.

You could think they would chase young players to replace Irving and Horford, but Danny Ainge will reportedly try to add some quality to the squad and bring Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal. According to Jordan Brenner of The Athletic, if they fail to re-sign Kyrie Irving in this free agency, Boston are already seeing Beal as the “prime option” as court general for them.

In order to make that happen, Boston will have to propose a generous offer to the Wizards, and Brenner’s sources suggest they would offer two interesting trade packages to Washington.

“Washington would need to strongly consider an offer of Jayson Tatum, Marcus Smart and a protected pick for Beal or that Boston could offer Smart, Jaylen Brown and two future first-rounders as an alternative trade,” Brenner said, as quoted by NESN.

Albeit he’s not the same player that Kyrie, Beal still can make a good addition for Boston, becoming a better leader than the former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard was during his spell at TD Garden. The most likely scenario for this trade to happen is probably Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart taking their talents to the capital team alongside two first-rounders, but you never know in this league.
