The Cleveland Cavaliers have had a surprisingly good season thus far, and they currently have a 20-15 record. There is no question that they have exceeded expectations, and have shown that they are a very tough team.
However, there has been a recent injury that could affect their performance. Point guard Ricky Rubio has gone down with an ACL injury, and there is no question that he was important to the way that they play.
It seems as though the team has already zoned in on a player that could help the team. Adrian Wojnarowski has recently reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers are close to agreeing on a deal for point guard Rajon Rondo. A trade could happen as soon as this upcoming Friday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are nearing a trade to acquire Los Angeles Lakers guard Rajon Rondo -- and an agreement is expected to be reached as soon as Friday, sources tell ESPN. Rondo would be able to join Cleveland as soon as he clears Covid protocols.
Cavaliers are moving on the deal in the wake of Ricky Rubio's season-ending knee injury.
Ricky Rubio is a player whose best attribute is playmaking, and perhaps Rajon Rondo could fill that void for the Cleveland Cavaliers. While Rondo is clearly a worse player than Rubio at this stage of his career, he can certainly be a great stop-gap option. It is currently unclear what player/draft compensation the Los Angeles Lakers will get in return for the veteran point guard.
The Cleveland Cavaliers were also linked with Caris LeVert and Joe Harris previously, so perhaps we'll see the Cavaliers make multiple trades this year. It's good to see them get back to being a competitive team, and hopefully, they are able to continue their stellar play if the deal gets over the finish line.
