NBA Rumors: Clippers Could Trade For Kyle Lowry

The Toronto Raptors have no intentions of trading their star point guard Kyle Lowry -- not even after the departure of Kawhi. But things change, and the Raptors could find themselves keen to make a number of moves if things turn sour.

Most notably, it'll be Kyle Lowry who makes the biggest splash and, according to Adrian Wojnarowski on The Lowe Post, the Clippers have already been tagged as a potential trade partner.

“A lot of the reason Toronto signed him to the deal is he is easier to trade under contract for next year at $31 million,” Wojnarowski said.

“Absolutely,” replied Lowe. “At the trade deadline, there could be an exodus from their championship core.”

According to Woj, four teams would emerge as suitors to acquire Lowry — the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, and Detroit Pistons.

Considering the loaded resources the Clippers still have on the roster, they stand as one of the more likely options for Lowry and the Raptors.

After a summer of two blockbuster signings, L.A. transformed from mediocre 8th seed to top-tier Championship contenders. With that title, comes the expectation that they will excel this upcoming season. But if they find themselves in need of more star-power, Lowry could be the way to go.

He averaged 14.2 points, 8.7 assists, and 4.8 rebounds last season for the Raptors. He turns 34 in March.
