The Miami Heat have been linked with New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday in recent days, but they face a big obstacle in their pursuit of the veteran. According to Sean Deveney of Heavy, the Pels have no intention of moving Holiday, at least for this season.
All this situation gets worse when we see that Miami have little to offer to land Holiday. They’ve been looking for a second star to join forces with Jimmy Butler and Holiday appears to be the perfect option for them.
The Heat almost completed a deal with Houston for Russell Westbrook and discussed one with Oklahoma City about Chris Paul, but neither move materialized.
Now, the same factors that ended their chances to see Westbrook or Paul in South Beach are ready to kill the opportunity to land Holiday. They could use two of their most promising players, Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo in a package to get Holiday. However, they have told inquiring teams that the duo is untouchable, according to Deveney.
This is not the first time we learn about this situation, as Deveney wrote the same a couple of months ago.
They have a very good young core with these two and Kendrick Nunn, but it looks like Miami are aiming to compete for the East this season and they don’t want to wait for another rebuilding.
They could send a different trade package to NOLA, but the Pelicans would likely pass on that offer. The only certain thing now is that they don't want to ship Herro and Adebayo.
