NBA Rumors: Jimmy Butler Has Requested A Trade From The Timberwolves

According to Sham Charania, Jimmy Butler has formally requested to be traded out of the Minnesota Timberwolves, following the news that he was about to have a sit down with Tom Thibodeau regarding his future with the team.

Disappointing as it may seem, this is far from a surprise considering there was an alleged beef between Butler and the Timberwolves’ young core due to their “lack of character and competitiveness.”

As several insiders reports, Jimmy Buckets demanded a lot out of his teammates and felt as if they didn’t care or wanted to compete. Moreover, it seems like he and franchise cornerstone Karl-Anthony Towns had a bit of an ongoing feud, a situation that wasn’t addressed during the summer.

Butler landed at Minny via the trade that sent Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and the pick that eventually became Lauri Markkanen, so this is a major blow for a team’s front office that was keen to turn their recent history around asap.

Furthermore, it seems like Butler has already made a list of his 3 favorite trade destinations, one of them being the Los Angeles Lakers. We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s pretty likely that he’s not a part of the team come training camp, but it looks like Minny doesn’t have much leverage in this situation.

Everything is here. Jimmy Butler wants to play somewhere else and I guess he will be traded very soon.

If I can guess, three teams that Jimmy Butler would like to sign a contract extension could be the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors.
