NBA Rumors: Kings Could Trade For Karl-Anthony Towns

Is Karl-Anthony Towns nearing the end of his run in Minnesota? As the 23-year-old center enters his fourth off-season with the Timberwolves, there is a growing sense that it might be his last.

The team's roster has proved ineffective, and the young star must be eager to get out at least just as much as the team is eager to try something new.

Thus, the offseason will bring about the inevitable trade talks, much of which will be centered around KAT. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Sacramento may be the first team to pick up the phone to offer up a potential package of Buddy Hield, Harry Giles, Nemanja Bjelica, a 2019 second-round pick, and a 2020 first-round pick to the Timberwolves in exchange for Karl-Anthony Towns.

“This would cost Sacramento some depth, but it would also form a potent starting group. Slotting Towns alongside De’Aaron Fox, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Harrison Barnes and Marvin Bagley III would give the Kings multiple scorers and playmakers, loads of length and athleticism and enough versatility to shift roles on the fly. The Towns-Fox-Bagley trio, in particular, would have NBA’s-next-Big-Three potential.”

It is a risk for Sacramento, who finally seems to be getting their act together. Pairing an assembly of bright young players alongside a talented young center would be a great fit, and would likely propel the team into its first playoff berth in years.

For Minnesota, it would mean a complete reset -- again. Having Hield, Giles and two picks would help speed the process up, however, and a trade involving Andrew Wiggins would ensure they truly start over.

Hopefully, this time, both teams would capitalize on the given opprotunity.
