The trade deadline is getting closer and we get to see more and more rumors about what could happen next March 25 in the NBA. There are some blockbuster trades we'd like to see ahead of the big date and some big players could leave their current squad to join a contender, at least for this season.
One of those is Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors, one player who gave his everything to the Canadian team but recent reports suggest he's about to leave his franchise for the last 9 years. The point guard is widely considered the best Raptor of all time but all good things come to an end. There are teams interested in his services and one of the best in the West has shown strong interest in him.
Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer recently wrote a piece explaining what every team in the league needs right now. The Clippers have been urged to find a playmaker ever since they lost in the 2020 Western Conference playoffs to the Denver Nuggets and the 34-year-old could be the answer to their problems.
Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported the Clippers have interest in acquiring Raptors guard Kyle Lowry. Matching salaries to pull off a deal for Lowry would be complicated, though it’s not impossible. There have been no rumblings of the Clippers pursuing Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan.
This could be the best scenario for these two parties. Teams like the Sixers, Heat and more have also been linked with the Philadelphia native but apparently, the Clippers are looking to add him to finish the regular season. It's still early to say where he will go but the consensus around the league is that Lowry is ready to leave Toronto, even telling people he's getting traded this campaign.
