The Denver Nuggets are third in the Western Conference and have been a model of consistency all season long. Yet, when talking about the race for the 2020 title, their name is rarely drawn in the same breath as the Lakers, Clippers, Bucks, or even Rockets.
Despite having one of the best centers in the league in Nikola Jokic, and a deeply talented roster surrounding him, the consensus seems to be that they are still a piece or two away from true Championship contention.
This could be part of the reason why they're gearing up for a busy offseason. In fact, according to Mandela Namaste of Bleacher Report, they might already have a few potential trade targets in mind...
“Though neither Porter nor Bol has had sustained opportunity yet, both have shown enough in limited action to be integral parts of a blockbuster trade. Thanks to the Nuggets’ laundry list of quality role players, endless trade packages are possible, and the list of stars the team can pursue is almost as long. Bradley Beal and Jrue Holiday are often mentioned as gettable backcourt partners for Jamal Murray, while potential deals for big men like Kevin Love and Ben Simmons have been thrown around as well. Some of those ideas are more possible than others, but they all make sense for Denver.”
There's no telling what will happen this summer, but the Nuggets have options if they want to mix things up.
If they package Jamal Murray with another young player and some picks, they could see a return of Bradley Beal, Kevin Love, or even Ben Simmons -- all three of which would significantly increase their position.
In the end, it seems clear that the Nuggets need more star power if they want to be taken seriously, especially since they're in the West. If they are willing to pay the price and bring in a big name, the results could be substantial.
