NBA Rumors: Rockets Could Trade Clint Capela For Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis

Could the Rockets land yet another superstar to pair next to offensive juggernaut James Harden?

It seems impossible and should be considered unlikely, but it is still very possible for the Rockets to earn attention in the Anthony Davis trade sweepstakes. If they fall short of a long postseason run, Houston GM Daryl Morey might be pressured to get together a package for the New Orleans big man.

It would be centered around Clint Capela and picks.

“The Rockets will sacrifice plenty of picks for a star, but Houston’s high floor saps some of the selections’ appeal," writes Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report. "Capela is (at least) a top-10 center, but his game is more complementary than New Orleans probably wants for its Davis replacement. Assuming the Pelicans want nothing to do with Eric Gordon after his messy exit from the Bayou, Tucker joins the offer instead and perhaps gets flipped in a separate swap.”

The Celtics would obviously have a much more intriguing offer, but if those talks break down, or if the Pelicans really like Capela, they could seriously look at this deal.

It would give them a young star big man in the middle while also providing them with picks and future assets (assuming they deal Tucker).

New Orleans is hoping for the best this summer, as Houston hopes for a long playoff run. Depending on how things go, both teams could look very different in the next couple of months.
