The Los Angeles Lakers have gone into full-on recruitment mode as they seek to land their new franchise player/s. They have had their eyes on superstars such as LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and Chris Paul for the better part of a full year now, and all are legitimate targets to become potential Lakers next season. But one intriguing duo consists of both LeBron and CP3.
Paul and James are longtime friends, and the chances of the two teaming up to contend for a championship has long been rumored. A duo consisting of James, Paul and the company of the Lakers young core could be enough to dethrone Golden State in the Western Conference. The pair has experience playing with each other in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic teams, winning two gold medals together.
Although, CP3 and LeBron joining forces in LA would have to come at a cost, with some deal involving Lonzo Ball, which the Lakers are not keen on giving up. It would make more sense for the Lakers to add Kawhi Leonard or Paul George in free agency. Realistically, it sounds as CP3 will want go wherever James will end up. LA has reportedly become uninterested in Kawhi because of his season-ending quad injury, and the same could apply to CP3’s constant occurring injuries such as his hamstring that made him sit out Game 6 against Golden State in this year's Western Conference Finals.
The Lakers could sacrifice a lot in order to have a chance at creating a superteam this season which could consist of LeBron, CP3, and Paul George to possibly take down one of the greatest teams in history, 2017-18 champion Golden State Warriors.
