D'Angelo Russell is another name at the free agent list this summer. The 23-year-old guard is nearing the start of his restricted free agency, and multiple teams are in pursuit.
One such team is the Timberwolves, who have long been seeking a suitable star to pair with Karl-Anthony Towns.
It is no secret that Russ and KAT have a connection off the court. That connection -- combined with Minnesota's desperation for a point guard -- will likely vault them as a serious contender for Russell this summer.
Andrew Wiggins will likely be the odd man out in this scenario, being used as the trade chip for the deal for Russell. The Nets would have some kind of return for losing their star and in return, the Wolves would be playoff contenders in the West with Russ and Towns playing together.
So far, the Nets and Lakers have been the ones in contention for the 2018-19 All-Star, but expect the Timberwolves to get serious about entering the chase if he does no immediately re-sign with Brooklyn this summer.
