NBA Rumors: Top 5 Best Destinations For Kyle Lowry

NBA Rumors: Top 5 Best Destinations For Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry has had a very successful NBA career. He's made 6 All-Star teams and won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. After being a role player for the Grizzlies and the Rockets, he had settled with the Raptors and is one of the best leaders in the NBA.

Lowry brings a lot to the table as he’s a crafty point guard who is tough, plays defense, and has deep range. His veteran experience and knowledge of how to win in the postseason will be invaluable for teams that need him. Lowry is averaging 17.8 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 6.6 APG while shooting 41.5% from the field and 35.2% from three.

The Toronto Raptors have already moved on from veterans Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol and it is time for them to move on from Kyle Lowry after a poor 7-11 start. Here are the best destinations for Kyle Lowry.

5. New York Knicks

Trade Package: Frank Ntilkina, Dennis Smith Jr, Kevin Knox, Alec Burks for Kyle Lowry

The New York Knicks are playing well, although they don’t scare any teams at the moment. Adding Kyle Lowry makes them better because he brings a no-nonsense attitude and proven leadership to a young team. The likes of Julius Randle, R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, and Obi Toppin are very promising together and Lowry will help them grow. The Knicks probably could sneak into the playoffs with Lowry as well, which Knicks fans will absolutely love.

For the Raptors, they are getting quite a haul in return. Ntilikina, Knox, and Burks are all building blocks for the Raptors and they need defense and size after losing Ibaka and Gasol in Free Agency. The Raptors have Ntilkina’s defense to replace Lowry’s, and Knox has a very high ceiling. Knox eventually becomes the immediate starter next to Pascal Siakam, and they start creating a team that will be very competitive in the nearest future.

4. Detroit Pistons

Trade Package: Blake Griffin, a future first-round pick for Kyle Lowry

The Pistons have found a gem in Jerami Grant, but Blake Griffin just looks like he doesn’t belong. Griffin is non longer one of the best power forwards in the NBA, but he is a very talented scorer that has high basketball I.Q. Preparing for Blake Griffin and Pascal Siakam would give opponents fits, as they can score and be effective from the perimeter or around the rim. The Raptors should trade Lowry, and getting another effective player in return will greatly improve their standing at the moment.

The Pistons add Kyle Lowry to groom Kylian Hayes into the starting point guard role while giving Grant a playmaker and shooter. Lowry makes the team better and gives the Pistons leadership at the point guard position. Blake Griffin is having the worst season of his career by averaging only 13.3 PPG, and swapping him for an NBA champion will make everyone on the team better.

3. Orlando Magic

Trade Package: Al-Farouq Aminu, Mo Bamba, Terrence Ross for Kyle Lowry

The Orlando Magic need a point guard right now since Markelle Fultz is out with yet another injury. With Nikola Vucevic on the court, the Magic need a ball-handler to feed him the ball and play off him. Kyle Lowry is a specialist as a secondary star and he is very unselfish on offense. Lowry can play through Vucevic, spot up for threes, and bring leadership to a Magic team that would like to progress to the second round of the playoffs.

Bamba is a talented young player, which makes him a perfect trade piece for the Raptors. Throwing in Rosa and Aminu gives the Raptors 2 players they can build around by trading away franchise point guard Kyle Lowry and not letting him walk for nothing. Bamba slots in nicely alongside Siakam and Ross is a starting-caliber shooting guard who can score from outside by averaging 34.9% from three.

2. New Orleans Pelicans

Trade Package: JJ Redick, Lonzo Ball, a future first-round pick, a future second-round pick for Kyle Lowry

The New Orleans Pelicans have gotten off to a decent start this season by having their two stars Zion Williamson and Branson Ingram healthy at once. The Pelicans would want to retain Zion and Ingram, but everyone else should be made expendable to make sure the team can compete in a very talented Western Conference. Lonzo Ball still has a very high ceiling, but Kyle Lowry gives the Pelicans what they need immediately.

Lowry is averaging 18.2 PPG and he can control the ball while Ingram and Zion control the forward positions at times. Lowry, Eric Bledsoe, Ingram, Zion, and Steven Adams is a strong lineup that has a great defense and plenty of scoring. The Raptors will also pair Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby with Lonzo Ball and add some picks which is a great start to a quick rebuild.

1. Los Angeles Clippers

Trade Package: Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, Marcus Morris for Kyle Lowry

The Los Angeles Clippers are once again one of the best teams in the NBA. Paul George is playing close to his MVP season from 2 years ago and Kawhi Leonard is one of the best 2-way players in the game. The coaching change and roster clearout also seem to have helped the Clippers with their chemistry as well. But they still need a point guard.

Lowry is the exact player they need to form a Big Three because he can shoot from outside and brings leadership to the team. The Clippers have done well with Patrick Beverley and Lou Williams, but Lowry gets them closer to competing with the Lakers and Nets. The Raptors can move on from Lowry and acquire some long-term assets in Morris (who had a career year last season) and short-term assets to clear cap space in Williams and Beverley.
