NBA Trade Rumors: 76ers Willing To Give Up 1st Round Pick For A Shooter

You can't blame the Sixers for acquiring Jimmy Butler. He's a two-dimensional player with plenty of upside for a team looking to get themselves over the hump.

In the trade, however, they gave up a key piece of their offense in Dari Saric. As a big man who could hit threes, he gave the team some ideal floor-spacing. Floor spacing that they're missing now.

As a result, they've begun their search to regain at least some of that perimeter game and may be willing to part with a first-round pick to get there.

The Sixers are another team willing to part with this year’s pick for immediate shooting help, as Philly looks for a big man who can shoot, along the lines of Mike Scott, Frank Kaminsky or Noah Vonleh. The Sixers gave up Dario Saric in the Jimmy Butler deal and miss his ability to stretch the floor.

Philadelphia did acquire Miami’s 2021 pick in the deal with the Suns for Mikal Bridges, but the Sixers have kept that pick out of trade discussions. Should the Heat unravel in the next couple of years, that pick will have increased value.

Obviously, any rebuilding team will hold 1st round picks in high esteem. So long as they're serious about giving it up, Philly shouldn't have any problems trading it for a shooting big man.

With the trade deadline nearing, the clock is ticking for Elton Brand and the 76ers. They clearly want to make some kind of move, so whatever they decide to do could help them in the upcoming postseason.
