All season long, the question has been whether or not Anthony Davis will finish this campaign with the New Orleans Pelicans. With the Lakers breathing down their necks, and the media scoping for any possible hint, New Orleans has felt an undeniable pressure to do something to keep their beloved star in town.
Fortunately, it sounds as if they'll have a few more months to do it.
Kevin Pelton of ESPN reports that, despite recent trade rumors regarding Anthony Davis, he'll probably be finishing this season out right where it began.
“They shouldn’t and won’t, mostly because I don’t know what big trade there is to be made at this point. I’d consider it extremely unlikely Anthony Davis will be traded at the deadline, and the Lakers should certainly wait to see whether Davis is attainable before making another blockbuster trade.”
The Lakers and any other team that has plans of making a run at Davis will have to wait a little bit longer before they get their opportunity to trade for him. Offers have, of course, been coming for him all throughout the season, but the Pelicans sound committed to devoting these next couple of months to convince Anthony Davis he's better off staying.
Whether or not he actually is is an argument for a different day. Besides, who's to say the grass will be greener on the other side anyway?
