This Anthony Davis story just got a little more intense.
A week after publicly requesting a trade from the Pelicans, and the deadline just days away, the Pelicans don't seem any closer to a deal than they were a month ago. As it appears, the deadline will come and pass before Davis wears a different jersey.
Though, interestingly enough, we know where Anthony Davis wants to go. And with his trade destination list officially made public, it may push a few teams to finally get serious about making a move.
The Clippers, Knicks, Lakers, and Bucks are all places Davis would be willing to sign a long-term deal. Meaning, any team that trades for him not included on that list would likely not keep him beyond a single season, as he's due to hit free agency in the summer of 2020.
The Knicks and Lakers were teams we already knew Davis was eyeballing, both high-market teams where he could make a lot of money, get a lot of spotlight, and play with another star at some point. The Clippers are interesting because they'll also be in the Kawhi Leonard chase this summer. If the Clippers pursue Davis, it could impact their future ( positively or negatively) with Kawhi when he hits the market in a couple of months.
The Bucks are the most surprising name on the list -- but the reason they're there shouldn't be that big a mystery to anyone. Giannis and A.D. would be one heck of a partnership, likely becoming the easy favorites in the East.
As all sides try to make their play, it'll be interesting to see if a trade gets done before Thursday, and which team ends up with him at the end.
