NBA Trade Rumors: Cleveland Could Trade For A Surprising Big Man

The Cleveland Cavaliers certainly didn't imagine their season starting off like this.

At 5-7, they stand at 12th in the East and have looked disastrous to start the 2017-18 campaign. Dwyane Wade looks washed, Kevin Love looks overwhelmed, and the team just lack enough star power to keep them amongst the Conference's elite.

As a result, the Cavs are understandably looking for some reinforcements. Something needs to change.

What that change will ultimately consist of is anyone's guess, but recent trade rumors have linked the team to a surprising name: Greg Monroe.

After getting dealt to Phoenix in the Bucks/Suns Eric Bledsoe trade, he finds himself on a team that has no need or want for him. The feeling is mutual, though, and both sides are expected to part ways soon enough. A buyout or trade is inevitable, and the Cavaliers could be the first ones to explore such a scenario.

"The Cavs don't currently view Jahlil Okafor as a fit. As for Greg Monroe, the interest in him would be higher, sources indicated to me. Monroe is 6-11 and 265 pounds, but he isn't really a shot blocker. He's a scorer (though, this season, he's averaging just 6.8 points per game). The Cavs, though flawed, have a crowded rotation already, so pursuing Monroe in any way would probably follow or coincide with other roster changes."

Greg Monroe would certainly be a strange get for the Cavs. Could he really make a significant difference?

While he probably wouldn't turn the team around, he'd certainly make them a little bit better, and he'd come for basically nothing since Phoenix is already looking to get rid of him. Regardless, it's clear that the Cavs intend to change their recent play. They haven't given up on this season, and neither should we.
