When reports surfaced last week claiming the Spurs had "shut the door" on trade talks with the Lakers, most thought that it would spell the end of any hopes LA had on acquiring Kawhi Leonard. Almost surely, the Western superstar was headed East.
Surprisingly though, with less than three days to go until the start of free-agency, talks between the two teams have been resurrected (via Ramona Shelburne and Tania Ganguli):
This marks the first time the Lakers and Spurs talked since things went sour last week. Better for the Lakers, though, was the fact that the chat seemed to have been something serious, most likely opening up the possibility of a future deal actually getting done.
