NBA Trade Rumors: Thunder Could Acquire Kevin Love For Steven Adams, Terrance Ferguson And Hamidou Diallo

Even though Paul George and Russell Westbrook developed good chemistry and took the Oklahoma City Thunder to have a good season last one, they couldn’t deliver the same way when the big show arrived and got relegated from the playoffs in the first round for the third straight season.

The Thunder’s front office knows that they need to add more quality and that maybe they are one player away to take that final step to actually compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy. In order to be finally ready to conquer the Western Conference and contend for the NBA championship title, OKC might be targeting one player that has already won an NBA title and knows very well how to play alongside two big stars like George and Westbrook.

According to Jordan Zirm of Uproxx, an NBA superstar that the Thunder could target on the trade market this summer is Kevin Love of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“A team with Russell Westbrook and Paul George shouldn’t be bowing out of the playoffs in the first round, but that’s what happened to the Thunder in the last two postseasons. Love not only adds a presence to play through in the post and stellar passing ability, but his ability to step out and hit the three would give Westbrook and George the spacing they desperately need to operate at full capacity.”

Love will certainly be a great addition for the Thunder; he is an All-Star caliber big man who, as stated before, has some experience playing for the biggest honor in the league and has shared touches with superstars like Kyrie Irving and LeBron James while both were still part of the Cavs.

Last season, the 30-year-old averaged 17.0 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists on 38.5 percent shooting from the field and 36.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

In the hypothetical trade deal, the Thunder will be sending a trade package that will include Steven Adams, Terrance Ferguson, and Hamidou Diallo to the Cavaliers in exchange for Love. This won’t only benefit the Thunder, but the Cavs as well, as they would be getting Ferguson and Diallo, two young players who have a big potential, while adding Steven Adams, who can be a great leader to the young blood.

OKC, on the other side, would be getting their desired third star to take this team to the next level and become a serious threat in the West. However, if the Thunder don’t include future draft picks in the deal, that offer wouldn’t likely be enough to persuade the Cavaliers to send Love to Oklahoma City.

Besides, there hasn’t been any signal of the Cavs willing to let Love go this summer, so that makes this trade an even harder one to carry out.
