LeBron James has been the center of attention this upcoming off-season, however, five-time NBA All-Star Paul George will also become a big target for teams this free agency period if he decides he wants to become one.
Along with LeBron, Paul George has until the 29th of June to let the Thunder know whether he will exercise his player option -- that’s currently worth $20.7 million -- to stay in Oklahoma City alongside Russell Westbrook.
George has returned to his hometown in California for the summer, which has caused speculation about the possibility of leaving Oklahoma City to join the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s no secret that Paul George was interested in returning home last year when leaving Indiana.
In a recent interview during a Fortnite gaming convention with a TMZ reporter, George attempted to avoid answering which team he would be playing for next season. When asked about playing with LeBron James on the same team, George was very positive about the possibility of the two working together.
"I'm with LeBron every All-Star. Every one of my All-Stars I've been teamed with LeBron... I like playing with him. It was fun playing with LeBron at All-Star weekend."
Many are speculating that LeBron James and Paul George will join together next season and Los Angeles may well be the perfect destination for this new duo. Unlike rival teams who are also in the mix for the two All-Stars, the Lakers have enough salary cap space to secure two max contract-worthy players this offseason.
Without giving away any possible intentions to move to the Lakers, Paul George remained positive about his hometown.
“I’m from L.A. I can say I love L.A. because I’m from L.A.”.
Nothing is certain yet, but if both LeBron and George decide to head to L.A. and form a duo, the Lakers may become the biggest threat to the Warriors chances of completing a three-peat.
