After dropping their 12th straight game on Sunday, the New Orleans Pelicans are headed towards an early disqualification from playoff contention this year.

As they eagerly await the return of Zion (which seems to get pushed back every month), the Pels are hoping one of the other young studs on the roster will blossom into the star they need him to be.

It's clearer than ever the Pels are still years away from being a true threat in the West, and their focus is on the youth.

So where does that leave a guy like Jrue Holiday? In his fifth season in New Orleans, the 29-year-old guard seems like an awkward fit to the suddenly rebuilding Pelicans. And, of course, his name has begun to surface ahead of this season's deadline.

Interestingly enough, ESPN's Zach Lowe drew a connection between Holiday and the Denver Nuggets.

As a borderline All-Star, Jrue would make an exceptional addition to the Nuggets. One year removed from their Western Conference Semifinals appearance, the team is actively looking for ways to improve. Jrue would certainly help in that mission.

He is a star on both ends of the floor and would relieve some pressure from Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

This season, the 1x All-Star is averaging 19.4 points, 6.8 assists, and 5 rebounds on 45% shooting.
