NBA Rumors: Raptors Interested In Andre Iguodala

The Toronto Raptors are one of the surprise stories of the East. Following the departure of Kawhi Leonard, nobody was expecting them to be a top seed in the conference.

But here were are, a month into the new season, and the Raptors sit third in the East with one of the NBA's best records. The leap of young forward Pascal Siakam and contributions from Fred VanVleet and Marc Gasol have helped keep the team relevant.

And now, the rumor is, they have their eyes set on an NBA veteran that could put them another rung or two towards title contention: Andre Iguodala.

If they have a legitimate shot at defending their crown, why not make an aggressive move to assist that effort? Buying big on Andre Iguodala—while other contenders wait for a buyout agreement that may never come—could make this long, versatile, intelligent group even longer, more versatile and more intelligent. They couldn't make this move before Dec. 15, so they should have a clearer view of their ceiling by then.

As an experienced veteran, Iguodala would step up for the team in the most important moments. He is skilled on both ends of the floor -- as a playmaker and finisher on offense, and as a lock-down perimeter defender.

Buckley suggests a package of Norman Powell, Patrick McCaw, and a 2020 first-round pick. That might just be enough to get the job done...
