With the Spurs likely to blow another playoff series, rumor and speculation regarding the future of their roster has never been more rampant.
And Kawhi Leonard, their biggest star, is at the front of it all. Already, one notable team has taken some steps to build a respectable trade package for the two-way superstar. According to USA Today Sports' Sam Amick, that team is the L.A. Clippers.
Kyle Newport (Bleacher Report) said a very interesting thing about Kawhi Leonard:
The Clippers are a logical landing spot for Leonard. He is from the Los Angeles area and went to college at San Diego State. From the team's perspective, losing Griffin, Chris Paul and possibly DeAndre Jordan in the span of a year leaves the franchise in need of a young star to build around.
Los Angeles also has draft assets to help facilitate a trade. Of course, it takes two sides to make a deal.
After trading away Blake Griffin earlier this year, the Clips have been marred by uncertainty for weeks. With no clear direction forward, Kawhi Leonard would certainly be a good place to start. They'd likely have to give up some picks (and DeAndre Jordan?), but it'd be a fresh look for a franchise looking to start over. The question now is: can they pull it off?
