With the NBA season already on the books, the time has come for us to focus on what may or may not happen with teams and players for this upcoming season, as free agency and Draft night are pretty much upon us.
It’s been a wild week in the Association for sure, with rumors coming and going regarding the future of some of the most beloved stars in the world, and whether they will or won’t stay put with their teams beyond this season.
So, let’s skip the talking and just go ahead and take a look at this week’s top 10 hottest trade rumors.
10. Denver Nuggets Want To Move Faried
Well, this one may not come as a surprise at all, as Faried barely saw any playing time at all the prior season and completely fell off coach Malone’s rotation even despite the fact that they played without Paul Millsap for most of the season and were quite shorthanded in the frontcourt.
With the Nuggets set to resign Jokic and Barton during the summer, they’re desperately trying to move Faried’s expiring deal, and wouldn’t mind pairing him with Lydon, Beasley and Hernangomez and some picks as well, with the Hawks being one of the frontrunners to land the Manimal.
9. Memphis Grizzlies Desperate To Get Rid Of Parsons
After signing Chandler Parsons to a very lucrative deal, regret has finally knocked on the Memphis Grizzlies’ door, as they’re desperately trying to shed the small forward’s salary at all costs and would even be willing to part ways with the 4th overall pick if that’s the price they have to pay.
Memphis is going amid a rebuilding process so if they trade their pick it would likely be to trade down and at least get a couple of selections, but even if they don’t, Parsons would be a prime buyout candidate following another disappointing and injury-plagued season.
8. Miami Heat Want To Trade Tyler Johnson
The Miami Heat is reportedly trying to move their substitute combo guard Tyler Johnson, as he’s one of their few valuable assets right now due to his ability to lead the bench and fill the stat sheet on a nightly basis.
Nonetheless, he’s still owed over 19 million dollars for the upcoming campaign, so they’re likely to have to part ways with other assets in order to sweeten the deal. He’s got a lot of upsides but has been vastly overpaid for most of his career.
7. Miami Heat Keen To Move On From Hassan Whiteside
Hassan Whiteside has been a major disappointment for the Miami Heat ever since inking his signature in that multiyear deal, and coach Erik Spoelstra didn’t hesitate to send him to the bench through key stretches of matchups this season.
So, with several teams looking to add a rim protector to their core, Whiteside is set to have a lot of suitors, and he’s been quite clear on the fact that he’s not going to continue to play for a team where he doesn’t feel valued.
6. Sacramento Kings To Draft Michael Porter Jr?
According to several reports, the Sacramento Kings would be willing to risk it all and Draft injury prone forward Michael Porter Jr with the 2nd overall pick of this year’s draft, even though Mo Bamba, Luka Doncic and Marvin Bagley were reportedly their favorite prospects earlier.
Porter has one of the highest ceilings in this class and was considered to be the most talented player of the Draft, but injuries have raised a lot of question marks over his head early on, so this would definitely be a bold move for Sactown.
5. Cleveland Will Trade Love If James Doesn’t Stay
Kevin Love has been involved in a lot of trade rumors ever since the start of this season, and he’s likely going to be in the headlines for a bit longer while the LeBron James saga comes to an end.
According to several reports, the Cavs would be more than willing to move Kevin Love should James decide to leave in order to land several Draft picks or a couple of young players to kick-start their rebuild mode.
4. Kyrie Irving Won’t Sign An Extension This Summer
Kyrie Irving has already shut down all rumors of him signing an extension this summer as “it doesn’t sense financially for him”, something that has raised several doubts among the Celtics community on his long-term commitment with the franchise.
Even so, it seems he’s still trying to nurse his injury and go back to full strength before making any decisions for the future, so we could expect Danny Ainge to quietly explore the market for his All-Star point guard.
3. LeBron James And Paul George To Team Up?
Whether it’s on the Los Angeles Lakers or the Cleveland Cavaliers, it feels like there’s no way on earth Paul George and LeBron James aren’t teammates for the upcoming season, as per several reports.
LeBron James was Paul George’s rival during his Indiana Pacers stint and with him keen to make a run at the Championship, it feels like joining forces with the Kings is one of his top priorities for this summer.
2. Lakers Are Frontrunners To Sign LeBron James
According to several reports, the Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as the clear frontrunners to sign LeBron James this summer, with Magic Johnson set to be extremely aggressive in his pursuit for the King to bring showtime back to the Staples Center.
LeBron’s oldest song has reportedly committed to play for Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, and with the King also having several businesses in the city, even Las Vegas believes he’s extremely close being dressed in purple and gold.
1. Lakers, Celtics and Sixers Interested In Kawhi
Kawhi Leonard is the lock to leave the team during the summer, but just a handful of teams have the kind of assets to pull a trade-off.
According to several reports, the Lakers would be willing to part ways with several pieces of their young core to put their hands on the two-way All-Star, with the Sixers also set to be extremely aggressive and even willing to trade away their 10th overall pick, Markelle Fultz and Dario Saric in order to get him.
Also, Boston could send a great offer to the Spurs and maybe they are favorite to get Kawhi Leonard this summer.
