5 NBA Players Who Will Boom Or Bust Next Season

5 NBA Players Who Will Boom Or Bust Next Season

Just a handful of people are able to have a second or third chance to prove their doubters wrong and demonstrate the world that they’re actually worthy of a roster spot in the greatest league in basketball.

Coming to the league with high expectations and a lot of hype surrounding you may not be that good after all, as some players are never to successfully make the adjustment to the difficult and exhausting NBA lifestyle.

And now as time runs up and the clock starts to tick for some players, it’s pretty much 'do or die' this season for some of the young studs that have failed to impress us so far. So, let’s take a look at the top 5 boom or bust players for this season.

5. Jahlil Okafor

Jahlil Okafor has lost as much as 17 pounds and is currently hitting the gym night in and night out in order to make a comeback to the league after pretty much falling out of the Brooklyn Nets rotation following his trade out of the Philadephia 76ers.

It seems like he’s just going to have one more chance to do prove his worth in this league so he’s definitely got to make the most of it. He’s got the upside but has lacked the character and luck to actually prove it.

4. Nerlens Noel

Nerlens Noel

Nerlens Noel has been given yet another chance to make it in the league after signing a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder despite failing to impress with the Dallas Mavericks and constantly being hurt with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Noel has the potential to be one of the most dominant centers and rim protectors in the league but being so immature and injury prone, he’s not going to have another opportunity to get paid big time if he doesn’t prove his worth this season.

3. Jabari Parker

Luck hasn’t been on Jabari Parker’s side ever since entering the league, but the former Milwaukee Buck is one of the most humble and hardworking youngsters in the league, and he’s always been good when able to play.

He’s still got the upside to be one of the best combo forwards in the league and is going to have a lot of time to thrive with his hometown team, but he’s going to have to make the most of the chance if he wants the team to pick up his option and extend him beyond this season.

2. Markelle Fultz

Markelle Fultz suffered one of the most bizarre injuries we’ve ever seen, literally forgetting how to shoot the ball after being one of the craftiest and most versatile scorers throughout his NCAA stint.

He failed to impress and couldn’t log many minutes during his rookie season, but even though it’s been pretty clear that the Sixers are Embiid’s and Simmons’ team, he’s going to be heavily featured in the team’s offense as well, so let’s hope he can finally prove why he was taken 1st overall.

1. Trae Young

Ok, Trae Young hasn’t even made his pro debut but is already getting a lot of hate and doubts due to his shaky start in Summer League as well as the questions regarding his size, nonexistent defense and proneness to turn the ball over.

Even so, he’s got the potential to be the best shooter of his class and he’s even compared himself with Steve Nash. So, could he really be the next Stephen Curry? Or will he be just another Jimmer Fredette? We’ll have to wait and see.
