Donovan Mitchell got married to Coco Jones on Saturday night, August 1. The Cleveland Cavaliers guard invited Jalen Brunson, Jaylen Brown, Josh Hart, and several other NBA stars to attend his wedding at a private ceremony in Greenwich, Connecticut.

James Harden, Bam Adebayo, Russell Wilson, and Ciara were also among the stars in attendance at this star-studded wedding. Jaylen Brown, the 76ers star, uploaded two stories from the wedding on social media, which subsequently went viral.

One of which included a staredown with Jalen Brunson, who was the Finals MVP for the 2026 NBA champions, the Knicks. He recorded Brunson while the Knicks star had his eyes locked on him from the dance floor with a mischievous grin on his face.

This moment went viral on social media as fans got hyped up at the intense look Brunson gave before he broke eye contact to call out for Josh Hart at the wedding.

NBA fans saw Brown’s story and clipped it to post the newest meme on social media. They also flooded the comments section with hilarious observations about the video.

“That’s the smile of an assassin before he kills his Sixers team in next year’s playoffs.”

“Rivalry so strong they still can’t stop staring at each other across the dance floor.”

“Lmfaooo sweeping you then going to ya wedding is crazy work.”

“This must be awkward, most of the East superstars in one room watching another man get a ring.😅”

“That’s Jalen Brunson when he sees James Harden guarding him.”

“That wedding was just a who’s who of players that Brunson’s beaten in the playoffs. 😂”

It is a bit interesting to note that Brunson and the Knicks swept both the Cavaliers and the Sixers in the 2026 playoffs. Moreover, the Knicks also eliminated the Celtics (Brown’s former team) the last time they met in the playoffs (2025).

So the awkward dynamic between the Knicks players and the Cavaliers players at the wedding must be palpable. But it is rather reassuring to see that a professional rivalry has not stopped Mitchell from inviting Brunson and Hart to his wedding and has not stopped Brown from interacting with Brunson.

So it hasn’t affected their personal relationship and goes to show that the NBA is a brotherhood before competition. The second viral moment was a conversation between Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, and Bam Adebayo.

The love that they showed one another also reflected the true brotherhood in the NBA, where players have the capability to leave their negative emotions towards a professional rivalry at the doorstep before entering the room.

Naturally, Mitchell had invited the entire Cavaliers roster to his wedding as he celebrated his special day. After two years of dating, the couple had announced their engagement in July 2025 and are now married after three years together.

And while this day is a memory that the couple will never forget, the meme with Brunson also ensures that the NBA world will not forget it.
