Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha have quietly sold their massive Atherton estate for $29.1 million, making it one of the major real estate moves for the Golden State Warriors superstar.
According to public records, the Currys sold their home at 28 Selby Lane in May in what appears to be a pretty significant off-market transaction.
The couple originally purchased the property through a company in December 2020 for $30 million, meaning the sale came in just below the purchase price.
The property sits in Atherton’s Redwood Oaks neighborhood. It’s one of the wealthiest residential areas in the country. The home includes 17,761 square feet of living space, seven bedrooms, and eight and a half bathrooms. But the size only tells part of the story.

The estate also has a separate guest house, walnut orchard, resort-style swimming pool and cabana, a private wine cellar, and expansive indoor living areas. It was built to provide the kind of privacy and luxury that is expected for an NBA superstar and his family.
This is not the first major Atherton property Curry has sold. In 2021, Curry and Ayesha reportedly sold another home in the area for $31.2 million.
This makes the latest $29.1 million sale another significant transaction in California’s most exclusive real estate market. The Selby Lane property has also generated controversy apart from its price tag. Back in 2023, Curry and Ayesha had concerns about a proposed housing development near their property.=
According to San Mateo County records, the new buyer is an entity connected to a real estate investment company. The property could also go back on the market after renovations.
An expanded version of the estate has been promoted as coming soon, with plans showing thousands of additional square feet of living space.
Naturally, Curry selling a Bay Area mansion could also create some speculation about his future with the Warriors, but there is nothing connecting the real estate transaction with a potential departure from the Golden State Warriors.
Curry has reportedly expressed his desire to continue and finish his career with the Warriors, and the franchise has maintained confidence that the superstar will eventually retire in Golden State.
The timing also makes the transaction significant. Curry is entering a very important stage of his career, with the Warriors trying to build another competitive roster around him. But the Warriors have still yet to make a major offseason move and are reportedly ready to run it back with largely the same roster as it is.
For Curry, selling a $29.1 million mansion is not an ordinary real estate transaction. But considering the property cost $30 million in 2020, this is less about generating a profit and more about quietly refining his Atherton real estate portfolio.
