Jeff Hornacek: The Insecure Future

Jeff Hornacek

The former Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek recently named as the newest head coach of the New York Knicks.

Hornacek had a very good 1st season with the Phoenix Suns. Jeff had a record of 48-34 in his 1st season and despite the improvement, the Suns still missed the playoffs and Hornacek was the runner-up coach in the NBA Coach of the Year Award. losing to three-time winner Gregg Popovich.

Many doubted Hornacek because he didn't coach any All-Star players so far, and now he will be in the New York Knick and there is always a big pressure.

Jeff is a very good coach in the offensive game plans. He likes to use shooters and I think Kristaps Porzingis will really fit in Jeff's system.

Kristaps Porzingis is a stretch 4 and he can shoot the ball very well and Jeff really likes to use that kind of talent in his rotation. The Knicks have also Aaron Afflalo who can be a spot up shooter for the team.

The big question for Jeff is that how will Carmelo Anthony play in his system. He always used SF like a spot-up shooter, and Carmelo is not only that, so he can use Porzingis on the center position and Carmelo like a power forward.

With that mix, Porzingis and Carmelo will play stretch 4 and 5, and Hornacek will improve the ball movement with this combination.

"The things I've heard is that he's not going to be required to run the triangle," Van Gundy said. "Which is smart from the standpoint that he's never taught it before. So you don't want to come in trying [something] that you've never played in or taught. I'm interested in that. But I think it's an inspired choice."

However, nobody can't win just because of the triangle offense. They need 2 very good players, like Chicago had with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen and like Lakers had with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

We should wait and see the addition of New York Knicks because they will try to trade Jose Calderon and maybe Arron Afflalo.

Derrick Williams is overrated and maybe they should try to trade and move all players instead of Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony (?).

At this moment, it's very hard to project Knicks' future, but they have at least two good players in their roster.

Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant are good players, but at this moment, New York should attack one big superstar in the off-season.

Today, the champion Golden State Warriors are using a small ball team, and with Porzingis and Carmelo in the starting lineup, the Knicks can try with them.

Of course, we always have just one question... can Carmelo pass the ball?

Jeff now has a very insecure job, because if they can't achieve to play in the NBA Playoffs 2017, I'm pretty sure that Phil Jackson will change the head coach in the future.

Let be honest, Hornacek now depends on the off-season moves. Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis will not become serious contenders without players like Marc Gasol or Mike Conley at least.

I don't think so that Jeff Hornacek is a good choice for the Knicks. David Blatt was the better choice, because he knows how to win a title and he knows how to implement the philosophy of life in the basketball game.

He won European Championship with Russia, Euroleague with Maccabi and he lost in the NBA Finals against Golden State Warriors, without Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, and Cavs played great against them.
