In the wake of several offseason moves, the 2026-27 season is likely to feature familiar faces in different settings. Among these, watching Jaylen Brown don the Philadelphia 76ers‘ jersey is bound to be one of the more surreal experiences.
Needless to say, Brown has welcomed the move to the 76ers, though it undoubtedly came as a shock at first. But now, with some time to digest the change, the five-time All-Star seems more motivated than ever.
During a recent Twitch live stream, Jaylen Brown revealed why he was so driven to win the title with Philadelphia. While showcasing his new Philadelphia jersey on the stream, Brown shared:
“I’d like to add that I’m more inspired to win than anything. Because I feel like I’ve been a little bit disrespected in this process, for whatever reason, from people that I thought valued me and everything I brought to the team and the city. I found out quickly that may or may not be the case.”
“So, I want to win more than anything. I’m looking forward to that journey, that approach, the leadership, and the sacrifice. Whatever it’s going to take, bro.”

The earlier part of Brown’s statement makes it abundantly clear that he has a chip on his shoulder entering the 2026-27 season. The reason for this is simple.
Jaylen Brown cut his teeth with the Boston Celtics, and after being named Finals MVP when the team lifted the trophy in 2024, he looked irreplaceable alongside Jayson Tatum. But in a surprising move, the Celtics traded Brown this summer, sowing the seeds for a revenge season.
Although trading the superstar seemed inevitable given how he fell out of favor with the organization, moving him to their division rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers, may not have been advisable. Now, with Brown due to face his former team at least four times during the regular season, each game is bound to have greater connotations.
Can Jaylen Brown And The 76ers Win It All Next Season?
The expectations surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers next season are certainly massive. Given the quality of offseason roster moves the team has made, it would not be outrageous to consider Philadelphia favorites in the East.
Jaylen Brown’s arrival could be viewed as one of the more significant ones this summer. Given that Philadelphia effectively swapped an aging Paul George for someone who finished sixth in MVP voting last season, it is safe to say that the 76ers clearly came out of that trade as winners.
With averages of 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game, Jaylen Brown was clearly among the best players in the NBA last season. In Jayson Tatum’s absence, the five-time All-Star played a crucial role in keeping the Boston Celtics competitive, even helping them secure a playoff berth as the second seed in the East.
Purely in light of last season’s performance, adding him to a core comprising Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and V.J. Edgecombe is enough to position the 76ers as contenders. But that’s not all.
Along with the acquisition of Jaylen Brown, the 76ers also succeeded in bringing LeBron James over on a two-year, $8 million deal in free agency. While some have had doubts about the move, it is unwise to bet against one of the greatest players the sport has ever seen.
The sheer depth of talent at the 76ers’ disposal is jaw-dropping. Still, many have viewed this as a problem, too. Given that multiple players have high usage rates, concerns have been raised about how each star will adapt to the other.
On that note, reports about the message of “sacrifice” being preached among teammates seem quite positive. With players like Tyrese Maxey also willing to sacrifice their role for the benefit of the team, the 76ers appear to be on the right path.
Whether this will help Philadelphia lift the trophy next season or not remains unknown. However, with all the right tools in place, the 76ers cannot be overlooked.
