The Perfect Team Around Stephen Curry ($100 Million Budget)

The Perfect Team Around Stephen Curry ($100 Million Budget)

Stephen Curry is the best shooter of all-time. Hardly anyone would ever dispute that, and Curry's shooting displays over the past few years have greatly boosted his status as an all-time great player. Only one can imagine if the Warriors had a hefty salary cap to sign who they want. If they had a $100 million salary cap, how would their team look like today?

Starting with the signing of current superstar Stephen Curry, it is time to create the perfect Warriors team. Here is the $100 Million Golden State Warriors squad built around the best shooter of all-time.

Best Player From Team Automatically Chosen: LeBron James

Maximum 4 Players From Any Team

Maximum 3 Rookie Players

Maximum $100 Million Salary Cap

Stephen Curry - $43,006,362

Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry's 43 million dollar salary cuts a lot into the $100 million salary cap, but surely that won't impact how dominant he will be on the court. Curry will blow teams out of the water with his shooting, as he shoots a career 43.5% from three. He's the greatest shooter of all time, a two-time MVP, and one of the most impactful players in NBA history. Curry's career average of 23.5 PPG will be the main talking point as he will be the best player on the squad.

Bradley Beal - $28,751,774

Bradley Beal

There isn't a perfect squad around Stephen Curry without another sharpshooter by his side. Bradley Beal is one of the best scorers in the NBA and also one of the most dominant offensive players in the league right now. He will play at the small forward position although he will alternate between positions as there is plenty of depth on this team. Beal was second in the league in scoring with 30.5 PPG last season and would form an unstoppable partnership with Curry. Beal’s career 38.0% 3-point shooting will certainly make Steph's team as unbeatable as possible.

Devonte' Graham - $1,663,861

Devonte Graham is a stud, and there is a reason why the Charlotte Hornet was a contender for the Most Improved Player Award last season. Even at 25 years old, Graham is a very good player. He plays hard every night, can create his own offense and is a very good passer. Graham's scoring and playmaking will complement Steph and Klay tremendously well, and the Warriors can let loose a 3-pronged attack to start every single game.

JR Smith - $1,456,667

JR Smith

JR Smith is mainly known for his green light in terms of perimeter shooting and also boneheaded plays. If somehow he can keep the latter in check, Smith will be a very valuable member of the squad. He will back up Klay Thompson and be the instant offense when Curry or Klay are having a breather. Smith is not in his prime anymore, but he will always have the skills to score the ball and this will complement Klay's defense as well.

Luguentz Dort - $1,517,981

Luguentz Dort

Luguentz Dort is a massive addition to Stephen Curry’s team. As one of the better perimeter defenders in the NBA, Dort made a name for himself for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season by playing sensational defense on James Harden in the first round of the playoffs and also scoring the ball when needed. Dort’s 30-point Game 7 performance was one of the best rookie playoff performances in recent history, and he will provide exceptional 2-way play behind Bradley Beal on Curry’s team.

Elfrid Payton - $1,000,000

elfrid payton

Elfrid Payton has bounced around the league for a while, but he will find a consistent home as a backup for Stephen Curry. Payton isn't an offensive threat but his defense and decent playmaking will be a great addition when Curry has his rest a few minutes every quarter. Payton averaged 10.0 PPG and 7.2 APG last season so Payton and his $1 million salary is an easy addition.

Montrezl Harrell - $9,258,000

Grabbing Montrezl Harrell on a $9 million contract is an absolute bargain because he is worth at least 3 times that amount. He had a career year, putting up 18.6 PPG and 7.1 RPG as a member of the Clippers bench. He is clearly capable of starting every night, and he will have a starting role in Curry's team. Harrell and the starting center Bam Adebayo will be a force inside, not allowing easy buckets around the rim and using their skill and force to score on the other end.

Taj Gibson - $1,000,000

Taj Gibson

Taj Gibson is a great role player because he is a veteran who plays hard every night. Gibson's rebounding and hustle play match perfectly with Harrell because they play similar styles. Gibson will be expected to be valuable in spurts of 3-4 minutes for Stephen Curry's team.

Talen Horton-Tucker - $1,517,981

Talen Horton-Tucker has been a revelation during the 2021 pre-season and he has earned his place on Stephen Curry's team as a result. Horton-Tucker's size and scoring ability mean he will be an important factor as a backup wing player. Horton-Tucker is on a very reasonable salary and his value far exceeds what he will be paid in this squad.

Terence Davis - $1,517,981

Davis played very well for the Toronto Raptors last season when he started making the rotation. An active forward on both ends, Davis averaged 7.5 PPG and 3.3 RPG in only 16.8 MPG. He will play similar minutes in Stephen Curry's team because both Montrezl Harrell and Bam Adebayo will be needed for 36 minutes per game at the very least.

Bam Adebayo - $5,115,492

Bam Adebayo is officially an untouchable Miami Heat star. He averaged 15.9 PPG, 10.2 RPG, 5.1 APG, and 1.3 BPG. Adebayo does everything well, including passing the ball extremely well and even hitting shots from outside the paint. Bam plays hard, dominates on defense, and can be a leader for this squad. With all due respect to Draymond Green, Bam Adebayo is a much more talented player and he will be a key cog for Curry and Klay. His pairing with Montrezl Harrell makes the Warriors the best inside-outside team in the world.

Boban Marjanovic - $3,500,000

Boban Marjanovic

Boban Marjanovic will be the best big man off the bench for this $100M team. Boban rebounds well, defends the paint, and can receive lobs from either Curry or Graham every trip down the floor. Marjanovic averaged 6.6 PPG and 4.5 RPG last season for the Mavericks, and he will be a very important player as he backs up Bam and Harrell for 20 minutes per game at least. A duo of Bam and Boban at the center position covers Steph’s team in the frontcourt, and will only make this team more potent on defense.

Conclusion – Total Salary: $99,604,452

This team will blow everyone out of the building. Curry alone is unstoppable, and he needs consistent attention from two or three defenders at a time. Adding Bradley Beal and Devonte' Graham to the squad means at least two guys have to be picked up from 40 feet inwards. If Curry is open, you know the result. Same result with Beal. Graham is very capable of finding guys for open shots and also creating for himself. The Warriors scorers are too lethal from deep, and also off dribble-drives. I don't see how any defense can prepare for them.

Adding 2 All-Star big men just makes this ridiculous. Montrezl Harrell would be the perfect complement to Curry because he can run the floor and receive it for dunks and layups. Harrell can also score inside when he has the ball and is a strong rebounder despite being undersized. Bam Adebayo is an All-NBA talent because he is active on both ends of the floor, and was the second main reason his Miami Heat made the Finals last season. Overall, this team has size and plenty of shooting which makes them a perfect $100 million squad.
