Anthony Davis has for years heard jokes about his injury history, but this latest one came from an unexpected place. During a recent Call of Duty livestream, the Washington Wizards star was roasted by a random fan, who mocked his long injury history with a savage one-liner that made the rounds on social media.
While playing online with other gamers, one player took a shot at the 10-time NBA All-Star.

Davis didn’t respond to the comment and just continued playing, giving no heed to the trash talk. But the clip went viral as fans once again revisited the reputation that followed him throughout his NBA career.
There was a time when Davis was all set to become the league’s most dominant big man. During the Lakers’ 2019-20 title run, he averaged 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game while earning First Team All-NBA and First Team All-Defensive honors. He finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting and led the Lakers to their 17th NBA championship.
At that point, many thought Davis would take over, becoming the face of the Lakers after LeBron James‘ era came to an end. But injuries interrupted his career.
Over the years, he has dealt with groin, foot, knee, ankle, and eye injuries that prevented him from consistently staying on the floor. Even though he put up big numbers when he was healthy, his availability became the biggest talking point.
That narrative has only grown stronger in recent seasons. Davis has reached the 65-game mark only once in the last seven years. The injury bug followed him when he went to the Dallas Mavericks as well, which limited his impact before they traded him to the Washington Wizards.
The trolling isn’t about his talent. Few players can dominate both sides of the floor when he’s healthy. He is a versatile defender, an elite rim protector, and a dominant scorer capable of taking over games.
But instead, it’s about his injury history, which makes it hard to justify his superstar salary.
Now starting a new chapter with the Wizards, Davis wants to take on a new challenge. His goal is to play all 82 regular-season games, hoping to finally quiet all the doubts that have followed him for years.
The Wizards will be looking for Davis to show up in big moments alongside Trae Young and rookie AJ Dybantsa as they look to become a contender.
