Anthony Davis, LeBron James. Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant. Two of the greatest duos in recent memory. Kobe and Shaq formed a formidable duo and dominated the league for half a decade. During their time together, they made the playoffs every year and won 3 straight NBA championships together.
Shaq was the Finals MVP in all of the championships winning seasons as well as a multi-time All-Star, All-NBA player and won the MVP award in the 1999-00 season.
Kobe Bryant was a great co-teammate to Shaq (on the Court). Kobe during this time made the All-star team in all but one season and during their three-peat, he made a lot of clutch shots that helped the team win. This duo was one of the greatest of all time and if Shaq and Kobe didn’t have a feud, who knows what else this duo could have accomplished.
LeBron and Anthony Davis have started on fire this year for the Lakers and haven’t shown any signs of slowing down. Davis was traded to the Lakers this past offseason to pair alongside LeBron and the duo is off to a 24-5 record which is good for first in the Western Conference. Davis is continuing the dominance that he has shown throughout his career but, this season has shown us just how amazing LeBron is.
After an offseason where he was criticized and called “washed” LeBron has been on a tear as he has averaged 25.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and a career-high 10.6 assists on 49.8% shooting from the field and 35.3% from three. The craziest part about this is that LeBron is 34 years and with this performance, he has silenced the critics.
With the Lakers’ early-season success, some people question how this duo would fare against Kobe and Shaq.
The Rules are simple; 2 vs. 2 match, Kobe and Shaq vs. LeBron and Davis, Make It-Take It, shots count as 1 and 2 points, one game to 21. Let’s see who wins. Since LeBron and AD are currently on the Lakers, they will start with the ball.
1-0: On the first possession, LeBron uses his strength to back down Kobe and hits a tough layup over him.
3-0: On the next possession, Shaq cheats over and tries to double-team LeBron. Seeing this, LeBron throws a bullet pass to Davis who hits the corner-three.
4-0: This is why LeBron James is one of the best athletes of all time. LeBron throws down a mean tomahawk dunk over Kobe Bryant!
Kobe and Shaq now get a sense of LeBron and AD’s game plan and buckle down on defense. Shaq cheats over on LeBron again. LeBron is able to get the pass to AD but this time he misses it and Kobe gets the rebound.
4-1: After getting the rebound, Kobe posts up LeBron and hits his patented post-fadeaway shot over him.
4-2: Kobe passes to Shaq in the paint who uses his strength to score a bucket over Anthony Davis.
4-3: Kobe is once again able to get the ball to Shaq who uses his strength to outmuscle AD for the bucket.
4-5: Kobe sees LeBron trying to anticipate the pass and throws a fake pass to Shaq. LeBron bites on it and this leads to a wide-open three-point shot by Kobe.
5-5: LeBron strips Kobe of the ball and goes in for an acrobatic layup over Shaq.
6-5: With the ball back, LeBron goes to AD in the post. With Shaq on him, Davis uses his quick feet to get by him, pump fakes and hits a shot over him.
8-5: After a few jab steps, Kobe sags off of LeBron and LBJ makes him pay for it, hitting a deep three.
9-5: LeBron is able to outmuscle Kobe and throws down a ferocious slam dunk over him.
9-6: Kobe and Shaq get the ball back after a steal and Kobe scores an easy layup.
9-8: Kobe hits a three-pointer due to LeBron sagging off.
9-10: Despite LeBron’s lockdown defense, Kobe is able to get a little separation and hits the contested three-pointer over him.
9-11: Kobe gets the ball to Shaq in the paint once again and he scores another basket over Anthony Davis.
9-12: Kobe drives on LeBron and throws down a ferocious slam of his own over top of him.
11-12: AD strips Shaq in the post and dishes it to LeBron. LeBron hits Kobe with a jab and drills a three in his face.
12-12: LeBron calls for a screen from AD. Instead of rolling off the screen, AD fades and LeBron hits him for an open three-pointer.
13-12: LeBron hits AD near the free-throw line and with Shaq sagging off, AD makes him pay by hitting an open jumper.
15-12: Shaq once again cheats over to LeBron and LeBron hits Davis for a wide-open three on the wing.
15-13: As LeBron is posting up Kobe on the next possession, he strips him and scores an easy layup.
15-15: Kobe passes the ball to Shaq in the corner. AD sags off of Shaq because he cannot shoot but, Shaq hits an improbable corner three.
16-15: After a crazy possession, LeBron retaliates with a chase-down block on Kobe but he scores a circus layup!
18-15: Kobe is once again able to create separation and hits a fading three-point shot despite LeBron’s defense.
19-15: Shaq is once again unstoppable in the paint and this time he posterizes AD!
21-15: On the final possession, Kobe calls for the screen and gets AD switched on to him. Kobe hits AD with a crossover, steps back, and hits the game-winning three.
Now, this is all for fun and just a simulation. In real life, an outcome like this would happen because Shaq would be too much for Anthony Davis to handle. Not to mention, Kobe is a demon and would give LeBron a lot of problems.
