5 Realistic Destinations For Mauro Icardi

Mauro Icardi is probably living his last days as part of Internazionale. As soon as he arrived at the Giuseppe Meazza, new boss Antonio Conte made it clear that the Argentine striker would not be considered part of the club’s plans for next season. And, to be fair, it’s not like Icardi fought to remain with the club; his wife and agent Wanda Nara made sure to cut the last ties between the player and the team.

That being said, now Mauro is looking for a new team, and even though rumors have suggested different things, not every club he’s been linked with can land him or has the intention of doing so. Therefore, now we’re going to list off five teams who can actually end up landing Icardi this summer.

These are the five realistic destinations for Mauro Icardi

Paris Saint-Germain

Although Les Parisiens haven’t made any inquiries about Icardi, Internazionale are actually interested in Edinson Cavani, according to recent reports. If they don’t want to spend a lot of money to bring the Uruguayan striker to Italy, they could use Icardi as an exchange currency.

It was rumored at the beginning of the summer transfer window that Cavani was on his way out of the Parc des Prince, but that was when Antoine Griezmann was on the radar of the French side. Now, however, PSG could still let Edinson go in an attempt to renew their ranks and get Icardi, who is set to take a new challenge.

Napoli have big plans for this summer and one of those is signing Mauro Icardi. The Parthenoppeans have made it clear that they want to land the Argentine striker, but they need to find a way to pay the price Inter are demanding to part ways with the player.

It was rumored that Lorenzo Insigne might be part of a potential deal, but those rumors were dismissed by the club’s president. If Icardi lands in the San Paolo, Napoli would improve their level considerably. The forward has known how to be one of the best goalscorers in Italy and playing with a team that prioritizes giving the ball to the striker, he would have a great time at Naples.

Manchester United

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Icardi, but just like the rest of the picks in this list, it’s been attached to a swap deal. It’s widely known that Antonio Conte wants to land Romelu Lukaku this summer, but with United’s asking price, things could be difficult for the Italian side.

That’s why they plan on using Icardi to persuade the Red Devils to part ways with the Belgian striker. Although the Premier League side has turned down the first offers made by Inter, there are other ways to get a deal completed. Perhaps a player-plus-cash deal could be the best option for Internazionale to land their desired asset and get rid of Icardi.

Icardi has been a long-term transfer target for Juventus, and this summer could be the right moment for the Old Lady to finally put their hands on the player. Albeit they are almost done with their signings this offseason and don’t plan to spend more money, Juve are rumored to do the same thing that the rest of the teams on this list.

Just like Icardi in Inter, Paulo Dybala has been rumored to be wanting to leave Juventus and the Old Lady could use that in their favor. With Antonio Conte also interested in managing Dybala, these archrivals could swap the two forwards and help each other to fix their biggest problems ahead of next season.

The last spot of the top is the most surprising of all. Arsenal doesn’t have the biggest budget of all, but the Gunners have shown they can do magic this summer; having already secured the likes of William Saliba, Dani Ceballos and the seemingly imminent arrival of Nicolas Pepe, the North Londoners could make another shocking move.

Albeit Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has somehow been linked with a move to Manchester United, Arsenal apparently offered him as part of a swap deal for Icardi. Yet, the Argentinian said he wasn’t interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium. Well, with all the other teams failing to get a deal completed for the 26-year-old, perhaps he wouldn’t see a move to Arsenal with bad eyes when the transfer window’s end approaches.
