Not so long ago, Antoine Griezmann completely shook the world - and most of his supporters - by publicly admitting that he wanted to get out of Atletico Madrid following yet another season going empty-handed.
Cholo Simeone's team was knocked out of the UEFA Champions League again by Cristiano Ronaldo, this time wearing a Juventus' uniform, and the lack of European success frustrated Griezmann up to the point where he decided that leaving Wanda Metropolitano would be the best for his career.
However, with Barcelona reportedly cooling off their interest in signing him and trade talks between Atletico Madrid and Manchester United allegedly hitting a dead end, the World Cup winner is now on a bit of a predicament, a transfer limbo with his future still up in the air.
Moreover, Griezmann's situation is actually taking a huge toll in Atletico Madrid's transfer picture right now, as the Colchoneros haven't been able to seal the deal with Benfica regarding Joao Felix because they're waiting for the funds of Griezmann's sale, according to ESPN.
Atletico and Benfica have already agreed on a €126 million move for Joao Felix, but "logistical issues with the financial operation" have delayed the Portuguese's arrival to Wanda Metropolitano, as per the report.
Griezmann, on the other hand, is still undecided regarding his future and his release clause just dropped to €120 million on July 1, which is also terrible news for Atletico Madrid.
Paris Saint-Germain were also rumored to being interested in acquiring his services, but they're not pulling the trigger on any big name signings unless Neymar Jr, and/or Kylian Mbappe end up leaving the club as expected.
The fact that a player as talented as Griezmann doesn't have plenty of suitors lining up to sign him is kind of shocking, to say the least, and whether he'll still be welcome at Atletico Madrid after admitting his desire to leave is yet to be seen.
