Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has paid the ultimate compliment to Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, comparing him to one of the greatest footballers ever. Wenger described Salah as a ‘complete player' before comparing him to none other than Lionel Messi.
It’s mandatory to say Salah is enjoying a great season with Liverpool, scoring 13 goals in all competitions including nine strikes in the Premier League. He continued his great campaign on Wednesday as he set up Naby Keita's goal during Liverpool's victory over Monterrey in the Club World Cup.
All these performances have earned him a lot of praise, with Wenger showering the 27-year-old his admiration.
"I like his evolution," he explained. "Because he had touches last night (against Monterrey) of a playmaker.
"He created chances around the box that are exceptional, (there were shades) of Messi in him last night and I like that a guy who can score so many goals also becomes the guy who gives assists.
"That is a complete player. That's what we all admire and what we want from our players."
Over the past couple of seasons, the ‘Egyptian King’ has become one of the biggest figures in football and he doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. It’s kind of crazy to say he’ll win as many Ballons d’Or as Messi, but the forward could be one of the faces of the game when players like Lio or Cristiano Ronaldo hang the boots.
