FC Barcelona is set to have one of their most successful seasons in recent history, as they can rack up yet another triplet after winning La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League.
Even so, Ernesto Valverde knows he needs to strengthen the team ahead of next season, especially with Real Madrid set to make a huge splash in this upcoming transfer window in order to go back to title contention.
That's why the Catalans have been linked with several superstars, including Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, who's allegedly bound to leave the Colchoneros at the end of the season following yet another disappointing campaign by Cholo Simeone's team.
However, Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu claims the French superstar is not a part of their plans for this upcoming summer, at least, for the time being:
"Griezmann is an Atletico Madrid player and he has a contract with them. I like that the great players are in Spain because he gives value to LaLiga Santander which helps, for example, to get sponsors. If Griezmann wanted to come, he would have to talk to the coaches, but his name is not on the table. There is a lot of speculation in the press, but Griezmann is not on the table and he has not called Barcelona," Bartomeu told TVE (via Marca).
The French winger is one of the world's most prolific scorers and he's been tied with a move to Manchester United as well, and he might as well end up as Alexis Sanchez'replacement now that the Blaugranas have given up on their pursuit for him.
Moreover, the team has already signed Dutch wonderkid Frenkie de Jong from Ajax on a €75m deal, and it looks like they're ready to go all-in on Matthijs de Ligt, one of his teammates and closest friends:
"De Jong? We wanted to acquire him in the summer but there was a lot of pressure so we acted the way we did. "De Ligt? We have a great understanding with Ajax. I don't know what will happen with De Ligt but it seems like he will be on the transfer market," Bartomeu told Calciomercato.
